Nah, the snakes aren’t attacking. Mind you, I seem to recall that these gorgons have mighty fangs, which are likely quite poisonous. Hopefully, her mouth is not full of venom already.
Oh! Must have been thinking of one of those gorgons that stoned Cadugan and Lucas
Was *sure* I had seen a gorgon wearing a blindfold rather than the usual Lone Ranger mask (don’t tell me I’m even getting *that* mixed up with the Statue of Judgement… )
Here’s the strip in question:
https://www.yafgc.net/comic/3351-the-rebel-gorgon/
Nurussa hasn’t got a mask on, since she just stoned the hobgorgon, so she covers Brandor’s eyes while kissing him, then presumably flits away into the battle again.
(It’s not clear to me if he ever knew who rescued him or who kissed him, so finding a stowaway in his and Kor’s cart might be a total surprise!)
No point in trying to apply real-time between strips in this calculation of yours, Alan. I jump around a bit. Sometimes backtracking so that adventures are happening concurrently, sometimes I’ll skip days, weeks, months, or rarely, years.
Not at the moment, no. I don’t have any plans to make this character actually happen. But I don’t know. She could if she continues to amuse me and I think up a story use for her.
Rich…this is serious gold, right here. As ever, all things are in your capable and brilliant hands, but for what it’s worth…there’s a future strip introducing an apprentice-aged Anna with a cold open of a training montage with Kob that comes off as an actual fight until the minotaur offers a hand instead of a killing blow, and gentle if brusque critique of where her strategy failed her, that’s simply begging to happen, one day.
I may be the man with an orrery in my head, but your ability to just…cast your gaze casually in a direction and spontaneously bring life to voices and concepts like Anna’s seriously blows my mind, every time. You’d think, by now, years into YAFGC, this would have lost its "wow factor," but….no. No. Seriously, you have the most fertile imagination I’ve ever seen, and I absolutely *love* watching it play!
When I was a kid I made up my own fantasy stories, about monsters who didn’t want to be monsters anymore. Or, to be exact, monsters who wanted to remain monsters but not be a part of the monsters/humans conflict any more. Maybe falling in love with a human was part of it, but those stories came later.
Ah-WHOOPS!!! That was a publishing error. I fixed it, it’s still part of the ‘Conclusions’ chapter.
As for the whole *strip* concluding: Rest assured that while the Ranna vs Ch’Thier epic story is plodding and struggling through it’s aftermath Conclusions, YAFGC as a whole is not. It’s just sloughing off some old, tired loose ends as it gears itself up for a whole new era. Same bat-updating schedule and mostly the same bat-characters but with new elements, new ideas, new heroes…. Let’s just say I needed to re-excite myself about continuing to draw YAFGC for another 14 years! Fret not, I ain’t quittin’ this comic.
If Anna should show up in your later-period stories when everyone is dressed up in 17th Century, keep her in the same outfit you just drew her in. NOBODY will even notice the snakes!
I absolutely love this character, cannon or not! She fits perfectly with your general themes of ‘monsters’ being people too, and busting norms. Why shouldn’t a barbarian and a gorgon have a family?
I can see Nelussa continuing on with them in the wagon. The guys do most of the fighting, but if anything is ever a bit much for them, or outside their skill set, she can give it a look. And as they stay on the move, the statues don’t ever build up enough in one place to get people hunting for her. Then in the course of time, daughters happen, and we get the lovely and powerful Anna. Even if you don’t do it in the strip, I think it is head-cannon for a lot of us now. *chuckle*
Aww — YES!!! ❤️ I don’t care if it’s not canon, I’m officially head-canonizing Anna-Konda, which necessitates the Nelussa/Firehair ‘ship (I think that she could really use a happy ending)!
Woo-hoo, sneak attack kiss!!
Wouldn’t be "snake attack kiss" in this case?
Nah, the snakes aren’t attacking. Mind you, I seem to recall that these gorgons have mighty fangs, which are likely quite poisonous. Hopefully, her mouth is not full of venom already.
SNEK ATTACK
*hands you a cookie* You took the words right out of my brain!
Xero! You put the words "snek attack" back in FFG’s brain right now. They’re important words, and you know she’ll be needing them soon!
(Keep the cookie, though. Those are always good.)
You, I see, sir, are a man of culture. Or woman.
I see she picked up one of the Rannas’"safety masks" as a war souvenir!
Fairly sure that was her blindfold that she already had
I checked back on her earlier appearances & don’t see any blindfolds.
Until there’s a vaccine against petrification, wear your mask and maintain six feet distance except as required for essential kisses.
(I would say "for at least the first hundred days of the New Age", but that would probably make this post even more obscure to future readers.)
Oh, that’s sweet. She’s never had the chance to have a kiss before.
Yes she did: when she saved Brandor early in the fight, after stoning the Hob-Gorgon
I mean, without killing the person she’s kissing.
Here’s the strip in question:

Yes, that is the page, found it again when I was looking for her wearing a blindfold (never found it, so probably got her mixed up with someone else)
I didn’t realise that was her arm covering his eyes. I thought it was his in the final panel.
Always knew he was a keeper 😀
And she thinks the same 😉
She counts as a weapon, right?
By a seven-to-two vote, the snakes deem Brandor more interesting than whatever is inside the wagon.
Wait; it’s eight-to-two. Nelussa’s vote counts too.
Figured those two for keeping lookout for Kob
The gorgon joins the duo.
Here’s one "weapon" that refuses to be stowed, I see… 😉
Hope this should really be entitled not a goodbye montage <3
Mucat- giggling majorly at your posts lately, ty!!!
Maybe a "Hello there!" montage….
And love conquers all.
I think Kob’ll have noticed that he drives. His partner is very busy at the moment
Perfect place to hide from anyone seeking to eliminate all members of the enemy army!
(never mind that she is totally not the enemy. totally)
Rich – how soon can we see their kids?
t!
Well, this will be a hard and good question.
Lets think that how long takes kids to grow

But you don’t say we will not see them, do you?
I will tell you this much: If these two have kids, they’ll be large, muscly, strapping Gorgon girls.
If their eyes don’t get you, their fists will 😀
I don’t wait to see a uncle Kob falling the slime
That seems appropriate. ^_^ Amazons and Gorgons come to us from the same body of myths.
I’ll be honest, I really wanna see this.
Anna Konda, Barbarian Gorgon, Daughter of Brandor "Firehair" and Nelussa, Goddaughter and Student of Kob.
Or did you mean you wanted to see them MAKING a daughter, ’cause I can draw that too, I just won’t put it up where everyone can see it.
She canon? Will we eventually see her in… 18 comic years? Or maybe Lil Anna playing with other kids?
Not at the moment, no. I don’t have any plans to make this character actually happen. But I don’t know. She could if she continues to amuse me and I think up a story use for her.
I love her! The axe, the name, the attitude…
"Bro, do you even hiss?"

Anna Konda. *winces* Are you sure all of Brandor and Nellusa’s children are girls? There isn’t a son named Gar Tirr?
Her eyes are covered, but part of him turned to stone anyway.
Aww!
https://www.yafgc.net/comic/2459-cellblock-b2/
These two have a long backstory together.
Yup, and then he got Coronavirus.

When will we learn to leave caves alone?
Or… When will caves learn to leave HIM alone?

Or, to be exact, monsters who wanted to remain monsters but not be a part of the monsters/humans conflict any more. Maybe falling in love with a human was part of it, but those stories came later.
And yeah, there was repressed kink in this.
Maybe fantasies like that aren’t uncommon.
Well, I think that at least ONE part of his anatomy is getting stone hard…
Phew! With the title of the last chapter being Conclusions, I was slightly worried that the whole *strip* was concluding!
Ooo, hadn’t even noticed it was a new chapter, wonder who (or what) will be crossed over with this time…
Ah-WHOOPS!!! That was a publishing error. I fixed it, it’s still part of the ‘Conclusions’ chapter.

She’s a barbarian, of course she’ won’t be conforming to the fashionable norms. Besides, clothes get in the way of her rippling muscles.
Anna Konda don’t need no freakin’ mask!
Even without looking in her eyes, one part of all males turns to stone anyway 😀
"My eyes are up here."
"Oh! I’m sorry, miss; I didn’t mean to stare…"
"No, do not look up here. My EYES are up here, and Dr. Gran is tired of emergency house calls."
I absolutely love this character, cannon or not! She fits perfectly with your general themes of ‘monsters’ being people too, and busting norms. Why shouldn’t a barbarian and a gorgon have a family?

> she can give it a look.
And really, that’s all it ever takes.
Isn’t there a song like that?
{EDIT} There are a few of them, but this is the one I’m familiar with: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCJc-J7edks
Love it! You really have got to keep that girl on your list of the strip’s "coming attractions"!
Aww — YES!!! ❤️ I don’t care if it’s not canon, I’m officially head-canonizing Anna-Konda, which necessitates the Nelussa/Firehair ‘ship (I think that she could really use a happy ending)!
