3513 I Believe In Homicide
Hello my lovelies, and AAAAGHH!!!
Okay, so once again I fell a bit behind with my updates, I’m sorry. But life has a habit of throwing things into a spaghetti pit. Allow me to explain:
So, recently you all heard that my contract at Oasis Animation had run out and I was once again unemployed for an unknown period of time (a hazard of the animation industry, I’m afraid. One tries to get used to it. But one doesn’t.) So I was able to spend more time doing site maintenance and trying to get my portfolio and things updated and streamlined so that I might be employable. I also reactivated my file at a temp agency. And against my previous experiences, they set me up to work at a financial aid office IMMEDIATELY, a job which bore no resemblance to anything I’d done before (and bore actual real time consequences if I got anything wrong! HIGH ANXIETY)
We prepared for a trip away to visit the in-laws for Passover, but the DAY BEFORE WE LEFT, as you know, our beloved Regina passed away in our arms and we barely had time to mourn before we had ourselves packed into a germ-tube (airplane) to fly under high anxiety to a city known to be rampant with COVID. Our stay was actually pretty good.
Upon return and trying to get myself used to my temp position as a financial aid clerk, I got unexpectedly called by a local animation studio with an offer of potentially three consecutive contracts in a row!!! Starting IMMEDIATELY! So unable to bring myself to just WALK OUT on the financial aid agency, I took on the first of these contracts -the smallest and least formal of the three- on my own time. Which I’m afraid is actually also YAFGC time.
So I went from unemployed to working two COMPLETELY DIFFERENT jobs. So I intend to keep up with YAFGC, I’ll do my best to keep the ball rolling. Once things pick up at the animation studio, I’ll bow out of the temp position, which will give me more time for YAFGC, but I promise you, I’ll try to keep up with everything while I can. I love YAFGC and you all.
Thanks for your continued patience. You guys are the best!
-Rich “BK” Morris
Wishing you all the best on your new jobs!
My condolences about Regina–and the incredible pressure you must be under right now.
I can’t speak for every fan here, but I suspect most YAFGC long-haulers are used to this by now–and even though it’s unofficial Canadian law, you don’t have to keep apologizing (hard habit to break, I know). 😀
But we all know: without the necessities like food, shelter, clothing–YAFGC wouldn’t be possible anyway. And you have a family to look after as well.
Plus, I look forward to how your brand-new, never-before job experiences could potentially manifest themselves in YAFGC–if anyone could find a way, it would be you. Talk about a dose of new raw material!
Take care, Rich. I’m not planning to go anywhere.
Good luck in your new job! And if you can drop a new page now and then, great! Just don’t burn out.
Yay!!!! So happy for you!!! That your stay itself was so good while dealing with the grief, and the 4x good news on the job front are excellent bits of news!!! Happy dance!!!
And no worries on updates. Making a living takes priority to out enjoyment, you’re stick with us, and Cadugan just confirmed Taurenil isn’t going anywhere 😉
When it rains, it pours. Just remember to drop us a line every so often so we know you haven’t been washed downstream. Or ask DM to do it, it’s been a while since she’s spent time as our Beloved Queen and Dread Lady.
Congratulations, Rich! That is wonderful news, particularly after your sad loss of Regina. Please don’t worry about the updates, as others have said already taking care of your family, keeping a roof over your head and food on the table is more important. We’re not going anywhere.
All the best, and again, congratulations!
Dude, if you burn out trying to do all of this -and- keep a schedule for this comic I’m gonna be soooooo mad! Drop it until you got just one job! Smh
Great news never needs an apology.
I would rather you have a surplus of paying work than you starving to death. In the latter we never get another brilliant web comic.
Rich, I m sorry to hear about the passing. Good news about the trip (glad you all are safe) and fantastic news about the jobs. We will be here. So take your time, much like another webcomic I follow these things take time.
I am sorry to hear about Regina and the stressful trip, but I hope you had a lovely Passover with the in-laws and a relaxed and enjoyable seder!
Not sure why, artistically, but Cadugan looks adorable! Something about the shading or rough lines? And Capt. Carruthers pissed, affronted, or very disturbed!
I’m hoping Cadugan’s reason for asking about the skull being intact is addressed in the next few strips, cuz i’m really curious! (Also hoping i’m not missing something obvious lol)
I love the non-detail behind Cadugan in Panel 1.
We know they are bottles – but we don’t need them distracting us.
