I have no idea what this is but I love it!
That’s beautiful.
Because someone asked about this strip elsewhere as well, I shall repost what I said there:
The characters on the "Celestial Raven" are most of the cast of a D&D game I played in wayyyy back. The Elf and the Dwarf, of course, (Edrumore and Theorie) are still alive and kicking and they’re part of the crowd visiting Pado on his birthday. Pado is *not* my character, my character from that campaign is conspicuous in his absence. He’s the great grandfather of Eric of Drostardy I and he sacrificed himself into the Abyss to keep the evil god from rising. Nobody knows if he’s alive or dead, but the legend says that he will return someday when Drostardy needs him again.
This strip was a commemoration of the game, the characters, the players and the GM (Rob) on the anniversary of the first session.
so your character is like Leman Russ?^^
Sorry, I don’t know what you mean. I looked up ‘Leman Russ’ and found a Warhammer 40K wiki page with an overblown character that looks nothing like anything I’d draw with a vague description about a guy called ‘wolf’. I don’t see the connection to anything on this strip. I think the simple answer to your question is that I don’t know anything about Warhammer 40k, so if any of these characters are like it, it’s totally coincidental. Or maybe they stole it from ME! :O
To make not too long story shorter, Leman Russ GTFO to fight some traitors and daemons after a huge civil war ended, promising he’ll be back for the apocalyptic last battle.
Well…. my suspicion is that Lemon Russ got his story from the same place my GM got his story. King Arthur, who according to legend will reappear at Britain’s greatest time of need.
Personally prefer the legend of Owain Glyndŵr, the last true Prince of Wales, he fought the English until one day he simply disappeared (apparently he’s an ancestor)
I do remember reading something in one of myHorrible History books, it was a piece told by a Nun called Sister Guinevere, shortly after the Battle of Waterloo. And it mentioned the Legend of King Arthur returning after his death in battle
The Commander of the British force which defeated Napoleon Bonaparte: Arthur Welleseley, Duke of Wellington.
It ended with the line "He said he’d be back"
There's quite a list of those characters, really. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/KingInTheMountain
