That’s a shame. My copy worked great. I did, however, find that the first few levels were very linear and restricted next to the almost open underworld of the first one. But it got better as you got to the higher levels. And of course, there were sandbox modes. After a while the first one conflicted too much with all of the Windows updates and it couldn’t be played anymore, so I could only play the second one.
Now of course, I’d need an emulator for either of them.
There’s a modern incarnation of DK called "War for the Overworld".
There’s also a much more silly and playful franchise clearly inspired by DK called "Dungeons 3". I’ve enjoyed them both quite a lot. They’re available on Steam.
…Aaaaand after seeing this page, I don’t think I’ll use the Possession spell on any chickens anymore.
Fra-Jeeet!
I loved this game, but DK2 was so bad – crashed repeatedly – that I threw the disc away AND broke it in two first.
