LMAO OFF IS THAT who I Think it IS! Arachne?
Yes Totally Harmless!
Well that was a Nice Theory….
Nope, Charlotte
Actually, I’m thinking that looks more like Charlotte.
that is what i was thinking to, and it would make the end of the night queen story make scene
Often the most though out plans go awry…as well as the least though out ones….
*Thought
Ah, no, not Arachne.
Lucas was right, he WAS in a room with the end of the world.
Hm… That isn’t who I think it is, now is it? She looks a lot like Charlotte to me.
Charlotte.
Curly hair, perpetually small and childish: I’m putting my money on Charlotte.
Yeah, I’d put money on Charlotte, too.
But, the time-keeping is all wacky.
Or, maybe not. At the current time of this story, Charlotte is still alive for certain and we never had any indication of how long she had been alive before YAFGC started. And we also don’t know (yet) how long in the past this story is, but it would seem to pre-date Ata entering in to it and thus be hundreds (if not thousands) of years ago .. ??
Even after the last arc with Charlotte, it’s strongly implied that she died, but we never saw any evidence to that effect …..
Man. I’m running out of popcorn. Gonna need to pop up another kettle soon. 😀
That… would explain some of Charlotte’s actions.
When as it implied Charlie dies? Which arc was that?
She doesn’t, but we don’t actually know that the Drow child has died yet from Ata’s story.
The archives aren’t complete at the moment. But, the last arc with Charlotte she was in a magic valley, had discovered a god-like powerful catch of arcane magic and had become god-like powerful by using the magic.
More or less the final scene(s) involved a near-nuclear-sized explosion that seemed to consume the entire valley … did she escape somehow ..? To be determined Some Day. Maybe. I’d bet she did, but it’s an open book at the moment due to lack of evidence/confirmation and the sheer size of the catastrophe.
Something else I didn’t consider my above post:
Exactly how long do Drow live?
If Charlotte was indeed made the receptacle of Ranna’s soul, it is entirely possible she could be a thousand (or ten thousand) years old. Or maybe "only" a few hundred. I think lifespan for Elves & Drow in YAFGC has never been explained, and Tolkien elves lived for thousands upon thousands of years, being immortal in the flesh.
Oh right, with the lizard creatures (it was lizard creatures, weren’t they?) and humanoids, read that arc in the original run, didn’t remember that Charlie got left behind though 🙁
It is not back in the archive yet, but I quite clearly remember a comic after the end of Night Queen in which the Day Queen seeks for the body of Charlotte in the ruins of the explosion, and finds her rising alive from the ruins, shouting something (in the spirit of "I live again!" but probably not exactly that) that I interpreted as her mind having been taken over by something. I then thought it was the ancient magician of the Valley, but I now guess it may have been Ranna.
As for how long drows live, http://yafgc.net/comic/0786-turning-tides/ shows Arachne as a child spying on Lewie while he was still a living human, or at least before he became a skeleton.
Good catch, Ørjan, on Arachne’s age. My eyes aren’t good enough to pick the detail out, so I thought Lewie had already gone full lich and skeleton form by that Turning Tides strip.
I see now (using a magnifying glass!) that he still looks quite human there, not even aged much. Elsewhere tonight I estimated Arachne may only be ~30-50 years old on the young bracket. Your catch would seem to push that to at least 100, and likely much older.
Not the entire bakery, just that mountain.
And now that I think about it, perhaps Charlotte did -technically- die there, and Ranna fully took over her consciousness then.
Actually, we saw Charlotte crawl out from under the rubble of the mountain that blew up on top of her…Remember back in the Lost Valley with the dinosaurs?
Or Heh Heh Heh it may be Charlotte! 😛
Well, considering that the character list above includes Charlotte, but NOT Arachne (as some are guessing), I’d tend to agree.
😀
It’s totally Charlotte!
It has to be. She has remained child-like throughout the entire comic’s history. It is going to be scary if that part of her ever awakens.
Sounds like you’ve forgotten the Night Queen storyline.
Maybe Ranna was trapped inside Charlotte, but not anymore.
Acording to the story arc of the adventurers party that enter in the black mountain to recover the djinn lamp…Ranna is free now. She talked with the converted priesstess of Cth’Thier when she was being tortured…
Which arc was this?
That arc is not in this page, i don’t know why. I’m sure you have noticed that some pages are missing. It pass from 1590 to 2600.
Because I’m still in the process of restoring the archives. It’s a long and tedius job.
But Ranna was able to maintain her afterlife and talk to her worshipers even when she was "trapped" in her own sleeping body. Maybe it’s the same thing now? She just can’t make a physical avatar in the world like she and her sister used to?
Actually… can’t explain that one
Charlotte? o_O
Guys, guys, guys; Charlotte isn’t in the character tags. :Þ
Yeah, sorry about that. I left her out because I didn’t want it to be a complete spoiler. But now that almost everyone guessed it, I’ve put it back in.
In panel 6 there are two "of" in a row
Charlott for sure, and this explein why she is sooo chaotic
If that is Charlotte(Almost certainly), then they probably just did the worst possible thing they could have done.
Or, maybe, by putting Ranna inside Charlie _caused_ Charlie to be, well, ‘Charlie’
I have 2, no, 3 theories.
1. It never was going to work the way they wanted it to. Grim, but possible.
2. It would only work if the child died naturally (which is certainly not how Charlotte went at the end of Night Queen).
3. Charlotte’s had a lot of adventures and magic practiced on her, so she really isn’t "nothing," exactly. I can’t help but wonder if all the magic worked on and around her loosened these bindings. The stuff way back with the idiot genie got me thinking.
So, Gruumsh got the idea for Jone from Ranna then? He created one hybrid after another for his purpose, too, and it took him a long time before he got what he wanted.
Rereading this background story, I just realize how sad that actually is: "a child destined to be nothing."
So, they just decide to use her as a soul jar for Ranna because they take it for granted that Charlotte has not much of a destiny ahead of her? Well, bully. She’s ended up in the Lost Valley and was waaay more than nothing, and since they misused her so, I’d almost laugh at the Ch’thierian priestesses for that.
Man, those Rannites are really getting under my skin.
Charlotte.
Well. It explains a lot
Interesting. What is the connection between Ranna and Lolth? And how does destiny work?
The real question is how it was that Charlotte escaped from having "no destiny". Presumably some outside event must have changed that, but of all the things that have happened to her, what?
Not cool.
