So I’m going through the archives on a binge, noting done the occasional thoughts as I go along.
One thing that I’ve noticed so far is that everything by and large is framed in a very standardized format with two, four, six, or eight panels arrayed in more or less the same formation. This lends a certain rhythm to each strip, which works great for some strips but less well for some others. In the later strips, though, particularly the last couple hundred ones, this begins to change and we begin to see more experimental formats but it’s this one that really stood out to me. Most importantly, and in contrast with earlier fight scenes, all the action leads your eye to the next panel, giving the whole page more life and action; also notably, Lolth is blown through a wall in a double panel. The last panel is super-sized, emphasizing the power of Glon’s counter-attack. The art on its own merit has of course been great and full of personality from day 1, and the comedy consistently top-notch, but from here on out I’d say Rich proves exceedingly competent at drawing and formatting action scenes, as well.
Gotta love how Lolth is blasted through the walls.
Glon is starting to look like someone familiar.
Isn’t anyone worried that Lolth will eventually eat Wolf? I see she is a Black Widow.
Thinking of everything Wolf has survived and archieved….nope actually i am not worried at all.
