I wonder if this is the adventure where Glitterbranch finally dies… (not that I want him to, it’s just in this comic I get the feeling anyone can die and he’s been rolling the dice with every adventure. He’s gotta role a 1 eventually)
There’s a lot they don’t know about her. I think Dewcup only became a menace once she was corrupted. She also left pretty quick after she became corrupted. They probably don’t know anyone is in danger exactly. Before her corruption, Dewcup was just a little twee is all. But so is Glitterbranch.
Don’t forget there are two of her now, too, so if she did get turned by Ranna, it’s likely only one of her that did.
> Thereβs a lot they donβt know about her. I think Dewcup only became a menace once she was corrupted.
I dunno… I think there may have been signs before that, the sorts of things that a family notices, but doesn’t say out loud as long as everything *seems* to be all right…
*shrug* We can only go by what Rich has shown us. Prior to Arachne, Dewcup ran around kissing flowers. She was as ditzy as Glitterbranch or maybe more ditzy. It’s hard to tell with those two, but she seemed suited to her home environment where frolicking in the meadows and saying hello to Mr. Sun was expected, but withering flowers and poisoning her fellows was not.
Hm. For my part, I see a woman who was less "suited" for the environment than managed to "fit in" to her society, a society which tends to crush people who make ripples. Then, when the opportunity to embrace a new lifestyle came along, she jumped at it.
And I think that this tendency is the kind of thing family might have noticed.
Also, even if they didn’t suspect her of being a bottled-up seeker of "power and strength" (strip 158), they certainly knew she was stupid – and stupidity is dangerous enough without any ambition.
Who says she’s been ‘turned’?
For one thing, the only way for her to be ‘turned’ by Rancid, is if Rancid knows who she is and where she is, and if Rancid knows where she is, why is she headed the wrong direction? o_O
What exactly do you mean by her becoming ‘corrupted’?
I was using the classic gaming sense of corrupted. When we first see Dewcup, she’s this ditzy elf, alignment Good. She became corrupted when Arachne kissed her, then she followed Arachne to the Black Mountain and became the Dewcup we know and love.
She wasn’t a disaster back home before Arachne kissed her. She wasn’t a disaster in Black Mountain afterward (though I could debate that point with the whole "Lost King of Drostardy fiasco), but she was as soon as she tried to return to being a Wood Elf. All the dead plants and such…that’s a sign of corruption. She’s at least well on her way to becoming aligned Evil. In the arc where she was duplicated, duplicating her physically split her into Good and Evil versions.
Guesticus, you suggested she’d maybe gotten turned. I was only responding to what you said,
"Guesticus December 7, 2015, 7:01 pm Possibly the world, if she got turned Rancid π "
Unless I’ve been reading your comments wrong all this time? I’ve assumed "Rancid" meant "Ranna."
Oops! It was just a possibility, not an actuality, and if she had, the world probably wouldn’t be able to handle it π
Forgot about her withering that giant pine and asking that nice elf what poison tasted like. Still doesn’t seem like a ‘corruption’ to me, she was just caught between her old life and the life Arachne tried to teach her: she became an innocent carefree Drow (she always meant well, but well, things tended to go bad, very very bad)
I realise I’m incredibly slow, but this is actually the first time in all my 6-7 years of reading this comic that I’ve realised that Dewcup is Cadugan’s aunt.

Well, someone _always_ dies on these adventures, typically at least one ‘named’ and a few ‘minor’ NPCs
Is Lewie _sure_ Princess D-cups is still there? And, does he know about her Drow Twin?
Considering how Ata was all, "YOU CAN NEVER LEAVE THIS PLACE!" I think he’s got grounds to believe Dewcup is still there.
And will Lewie’s sister pop him one for "borrowing" that gem?
i am wondering have any of the woodelves ever considert putting some kind tracking charm on dewcup? they lose her rather easily don’t they π
Well, she hasn’t been home since she ran after Arachne, a couple decades ago
A couple of decades to an elf is like us being late home for dinner… they only really notice after 50-60 years.
That was the point π
Although, this time, they will chip her so they can track her next time she goes wandering π
I am tempted to wonder whether the mention of Dewcup made them concerned for her, or concerned for others.

> alignment Good
I wouldn’t hew too closely to D&D Alignment rules in any reading of this YAFGC; the only use this comic has for them is as a punch line.
Richard’s too good a writer to adhere to them. He likes to write actual characters.

Lewie, you are such a name dropper…
He also knows when to drop the appropriate name in the proper setting π
You just gotta find the lever …
I realise I’m incredibly slow, but this is actually the first time in all my 6-7 years of reading this comic that I’ve realised that Dewcup is Cadugan’s aunt.
Not just you, always thought Glitters was just as ‘fruity’ as his sister
And that The Cad’s dad was dead
I didn’t realize it right away either. Probably because it’s really weird to think of Dewcup as someone’s aunt.
For me, it’s more weird to think of Glitters as being a dad o_O
Well, this one at least was directly stated in the comic.
It was? Don’t remember The Cad’s dad’s name ever being mentioned before (but, don’t have a very good memory :()
Here’s the comic where we find out http://yafgc.net/comic/0943-reunion-time-2/
Thank you, forgot about that (us oldies need reminding some times π )
Have I been mixing up which elven realm Cadugan’s overly fertile father was the princeling of?!?
Oh no, I have besmirched the wrong dynasty’s name!
Rich –
are you out of buffer?
