It was the fact Fatinah said she was going to report to the Calipha, rather than the Caliph (but, that doesn’t really rule out the Caliph being back to his non-wooden self, she said she served Ch’Thier and the Calipha)
We will just have to wait and see (unless we switch back to Arachne and Co 😛 )
Okay, I was wrong to hope I phrased it clear enough.
Look, this root thing is a _very_ big deal, big enough to be regularly brought up and have arcs – more than one, too – revolve around it. Things like that _don’t_ get resolved off screen.
So, if no one even mentions him being back to normal, the chance of him being back to normal is 0.
(I mean, she WAS high priestess at one point, but her daughter was already taking over that post the first time we were introduce to this royal family).
Yes Fatinah, the mysterious the Elf is back. It only took about 5 years, maybe now we will know what here reflextion means, high queen? evil witch?

One question I always wondered about is way she did team up with Kurassa at the frist place, he did treat here badly, and she is/was a competent action girl, so why did she not leave him (or better backstabb him) earlier……
Maybe if she has been a slave throughout her childhood then she have no other than her master, before she met a nice prince. But I am still very curious about here reflextion in the mirrow.
No, very unlikely that she would have been Kurassa’s slave since childhood (she is an elf afterall and he was just a human)
Yes, a lot of potentiality regarding her reflection: but, that mirror didn’t show their future, rather, how they saw themselves (or do you believe that Prince Whatshisface would discover a fountain of youth after he became Caliph?)
The mirrow reflect part of the personality the prince feel that he is to young for his position, hence a child prince reflextion.
But Fatinah reflextion is of a queen or sombady in authority, something unusual for a slave, hence I am very intrested of here backstory and how she ended up as Kurassa slave. As I point out before she is a competent action girl so why not leave him, so what hold do Kurassa have over here.
Yes, would be interesting to see a bit of Fatinah’s background (maybe she was of royal birth {_minor_ royalty, like her dad was a Count or a Duke or… a Baron?} and kidnapped and sold into slavery)
There are more ways of keeping someone a slave than mere physical chains. There is also the possibility that she was a servant and not a slave and Kurassa is just a monumental jerk of an employer (seems to a requirement for mages and wizards in this world 😛 )
Yes, and she just said as much right there on this page.
I’m very glad she shook off whatever conditioning that old creep put her through.
Huh, a full veil across the face? I didn’t see much of that last time, is she going to have to sneak in somewhere to warn the Calipha?
Actually, it’s just a _half_ veil, and it’s probably to do with local customs
Bit confusing about what her former status was: Kurassa said on this page "be my servant again", and Fatinah replied "better to be a prisoner than a slave"
Hopefully Rich will explain soon (not in-comic as we have already seen that the answer depends on which side is speaking)
Guessing the Caliph is still setting down roots?
I’d expect to see evidence to the contrary if that wasn’t the case.

Well, the Calipha *is* the high priestess…
No, that’s her eldest daughter.
"Calipha" is a title more analogous to "Queen".
(I mean, she WAS high priestess at one point, but her daughter was already taking over that post the first time we were introduce to this royal family).
[Insert Ozymandias quote here]
"I’m not a comic book Villain. i started the process 45 minutes ago."
Mission Accomplished: I heard the bum-bum-BUMM.

The obvious explanation for why she was with Kurassa: she was his slave (fairly sure that that was explained when he was first introduced)

If you go back in the comic,

the lower ranking priests? acolyte have the same full veil.
