I'd say Lolth granted her regeneration that lets her feel the pain, but won't let her actually die, short of being killed by a godkiller weapon.
Nah, those passive regeneration features usually has a weakness, which deactivates it for some time – for trolls that's acid and fire, to the fea it's cold iron, some demons weakness is silvered weapons… In case of Arachne must be something really rare.
And then, Arachne continued to convert all people dumped in there… to her OWN army.
