When are people going to learn the trope that, as soon as someone says something like "what’s the worst that can happen" or "what can possibly go wrong" is just *inviting* it to happen?
And that’s exactly why I’m careful to *not* trigger that particular curse in any game I’m playing. Since I never trigger it, I have all the room in the world to complain about it.

See, I’ve always found that those who are the most Genre Savvy tend to be the ones the trope hits hardest.
The trope is going to continue to be deliberately reused by writers, so long as readers like Midnight there keep reacting to it. 😛
