May just be me, but still hoping that Niko isn’t as evil as Eddy and his flunkies have been making her out to be (evil sure, but on the ‘Arachne’ scales not the ‘Eddy’ scales 😛 )
Eddy is vain, arrogant, and vindictive. But more evil than Arachne, seriously?
Also, since I’m already quibbling, I don’t agree with your idea that Runt isn’t the rightful king. I think fate (or Rich) just decided to use Fang to mess a bit with Eddy’s inflated ego in the process.
No, he is just a different _kind_ of evil: Arachne (and most of the rest of the ‘monsters’) are the Fun Evil, Eddy is the Evil Dick kind (no relation to Fwooshing Dick 😛 )
Eddy set up that alternative selection process because he got into a huff over no-one asking him to join in, and Fang was the one to pull the axe from the tree-stump(?) and thus fulfilling Eddy’s own stupid little baby test
To elaborate, I think Eddy *sees himself* as on the side of good and right, but he also rationalizes what he does. And his vices come out when something or someone threatens to reveal that he is not as right as he tries to let on – that’s why he changed Runt’s memory, and why he turned Sir Riggles into a worm.
Oh, and don’t believe have ever said Runt hasn’t been a good king, just he shouldn’t have _been_ the king in the first place
Is it just a coincidence that Runt happened to be the youngest person at the Tournament? Or did that just help Eddy with his plans to ‘mould’ a king? o_O
I’m with you. Eddy-Villain is getting old. 😛 I don’t see him as a villain any more than I see Glon as one. (Yes, I intentionally chose and "Evil" character for comparison.) He’s a wizard guy with foibles. The cool thing in this comic is that there really isn’t any true Evil or true Good that I’ve seen so far. Even Arachne. She reminds me somewhat of a girl I went to high school with. No, really. You know that friend who was always getting into stuff that you wouldn’t ordinarily do, but you followed, mesmerized just because?
Maybe Rich has done _too_ good of a job with the entire cast, but personally don’t see anything redeemable with Eddy (can see _why_ he does what he does, but that does _not_ mean have to like them or him)
Please take that: that is a _personal_ opinion and won’t be ‘attacking’ anyone who disagrees
Not even a little upset that the King and his pet Mage got away?
(whoops, I got that backwards, didn’t I?)
Totally did.
Welcome to the club, been hoping more would see the light about Eddy 😀

Of _course_ he sees himself as ‘the good guy’, that’s how he justifies everything he does
But, just like how Wreck-it Ralph wasn’t a bad guy just because he was a ‘bad guy’, Eddy isn’t a good guy just because he is a ‘good guy’

DUN DUN DUN!
(sorry, Elan’s little dramatic music is just so handy!)
Ah, the villains are still in the Overconfident phase, brought about by easy early victories owing more to surprise than tactics.
That, and in their case a towering superiority complex.
t!
You wouldn’t be a villain if you didn’t have a towering superiority complex. Look at Eddy.
> You wouldn’t be a villain if you didn’t have a towering superiority complex.
Demonstrably false.
> Look at Eddy.
sigh… This again?
t!

Yeah, when something seems too easy… it usually is, and something nasty is about to bite your butt
