I can understand not seeing it, scorching sunlight everywhere should be fairly blinding for a Drow, but she should have felt/heard something that large running!
Well, there’s the humour aspect of the colossus suddenly being next to them. But there’s also the storytelling aspect of me not wanting to draw about fifty panels of them seeing it approaching from the distance, passing them (because there’s no way they’d be able to keep up) and then another fifty panels of describing what it’s doing ahead of them.
Could be worse. There was that period in beta where its model was accidentally replaced by a normal-sized bear. Still had the stats and reach of the full-sized Fel Reaver though.
As this is the second time the giant beastie has managed to surprise people (counting the flattening at Meegs’ tower), I suspect the creature carries the reincarnated soul of Sergio Leone, who of course operated on the principle that if it wasn’t in the frame, none of the characters could see it, even three feet away, even in a flat desert.
… Better check your skills Arachne, a 100 tonne dinosaur just snok up on you! 😀
And in the middle of a flat desert, too! 😉

Well, a "Haste" Spell combined with a "Move Silently" should do the trick… there’s a loophole in the rules since they dont cover size :p

Yeah, that would tend to make this chapter drag out a bit too long…
More likely around 10 000 tonnes or quite a bit more.
almost wish the last panal said" … and it’s gone."
Better start running girls!
Reminds me on that robot in "Burning Crusade" in the "Hellfire Peninsula".
Never saw it coming^^

The Fel Reaver, hope he’s back in Legion!

Exactly! It runs on cartoon and visual storytelling physics. Which I guess counts as ‘magic’ in some contexts. 🙂
In that case, Arachne and Liz better start watching out for a falling coyote followed closely by falling anvils. 😀
The role of the coyote in today’s cartoon shal be played by a certain Litch of our acquaintance. 😉
Even the gods must bend to the will of the DM & his/her magic power!
Small typo? Should be "held up" in the 2nd panel, I think.
I kept looking at that trying to figure if there was any way that the "p" could be a misshapen or stylized "d".
In the end, I had to conclude (as you did) that it was a typo.
It’s a ‘d’…. but it slipped and fell upside down. 😀
So an aussie d…
Oh youth – we all go through rebellious phases – just like this little d.
Perhaps a "d" that has lost its sense of direction? Is it suffering from dizzy spells? Maybe it’s just drunk? Disoriented?
This post is quickly getting away from me, and I’m running out of problems that start with "d"; I’m tapping out – next!
Dee eye zed zed why.
