You just need to hit the entrances to the Black Mountain’s interior to besiege the entire mountain, not the entire thing. And since Maula knows the Black Mountain so well, she knows that it’s possible with the reinforcements she’s gathered.
As for the win, we know she fought off and beat a section of the Rannites in there but who is to say that the rest of the Black Mountain denizens faired as well.
Problem with ‘just besiege the entrances’ is two things, A) Some of them might be really high up, used by flying creatures, and B) Tunneling creatures can just make more.
This thing has a forums as well? o_O
Just don’t have time to add _another_ forum just to wade through spam simply to talk about the comic or the individual pages
Well, one at least goes to some distant Dwarven kingdom, one (blocked off now) leads to Ranna’s Tomb… I would say that they are extensive, BUT I would also say that with over 90% of the tunnels, there is something nasty at the end waiting to eat them, rather than any way out. And Maula likely knows about 99% of even the "secret" ways in and out of the mountain for a long ways out. So the likelihood of the DMs finding an exit that Maula wouldn’t have covered is extremely slim. 🙂
Huh…
Doesn’t actually seem feasible, does it?
If its a smallish mountain, that’s still about 20 miles, maybe a little less, maybe a lot more.
And, the Queen is there too? But, I thought she WON…. did I miss a few pages?
Ish soooo confounded….

Don’t believe the Rancid’s have any fliers, or tunneller’s
She drove out Celena, but she didn’t drive out the rest of the Rancid Army (still hoping that Celena can be saved)
Heh, even Hogga is a looking a little shocked 😛
Wait, is this what some of the Five Armies said just before the siege on Lonely Mountain? 😀
And then *after* breakfast…
t!
You can almost hear the unspoken words of the male "ARE YOU FUGGING NUTS?"
More like Hogga is thinking that: "I forced my king to come here for _this_?"
Anyone else thinking of that song: "The Cat Came Back" when reading the title of this page? o_O
Not me, but at least one person did http://yafgc.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3476

taticly seen they only have to lay waste to al the exits, keeping the enemy from getting out and overrun them.
Yeah, but what about all the tunnels _under_ them, how far out do they spread?
