Obviously waking someone up from this spell is not super easy – otherwise the rannites would have woken up Ranna when they last had control of her tomb.
So, the question I have is, where was Ch’Thier when Ranna was answering her prayer-calls for her, and thus started the whole thing with the mistresses? How long has it been since she responded to anything? She showed up for the argument over Glon’s soul, then to comment on the Jone problem, to advise Vanessa on her daughter Adina, and Glon appealed to her when Goria died. Anyone remember seeing her since then?
Hm thinking about what happened to Scorpius and Gruumsh, maybe you’re right. And then staying in her own body, or alternatively someone else’s, would seem a lot safer.
Perhaps she hasn’t been responding because she has been preparing for this very moment, so that she can awaken when needed.
Something in me wants Fatinah to have a role in this. (BTW she is missing from the 2908 cast list.) However, she (and everyone else present for that matter) is too old to have carried Ch’Thier’s soul almost from birth like Charlotte carried Ranna’s.
I don’t think it can be Dewcup, because there’s no way she’ll get there in time for the climax. (Is it one or two strips left?)

Ch’Thier’s body lies ‘sleeping’. Has been so for many years, but her soul had been free to manifest to her followers and communicate via prayers and dreams. Until recently…. and she’s not responding now. Nobody knows why.
Vanessa, Princess Anna of Shallmar, the Fox, Fatinah and Nin (the Umbrillian Ogre guard) have been chased out of Umbril by Rannites lead by Sahar, Vanessa’s daughter and chief priestess of Ch’Thier -now a Rannite Gorgon priestess. They hooked up with Turg and his kids to fly to find Ch’Thier’s sleeping body to try to wake her up. It isn’t working.
Glon and Shaija are heading back to the Black Mountain because they worried about lack of news and Gaggia failing to join them on this journey.
Lucas and Cadugan just got stoned by a Rannite Gorgon on their way South. Caelin and Charles Hunter are hiding from her.
Arachne and Elzaer’bith were last seen heading South to try to get to the Curtain of Abynn, but Ranna/Charlotte passed them on their Colossus.
Ranna parked the dinos at the Curtain and jumped into her ancient tomb along with Lotharia, Conador and Ajan, but were met with a resistance force comprised of Lewie, Ata, Glitterbranch, [Woodelf]Dewcup and the old Drow "Order of the Spider".
Ajan and Conador realized this was probably the last chance to fix things, so they turned on Ranna/Charlotte, but Ranna disintegrated Ajan and Lotharia helped her back to her sleeping body.
After a failed attempt to stop them by Glitterbranch and Dewcup, Lotharia lies with an arrow in her shoulder and Ranna left Charlotte’s body and reentered her own. Which has grown huge and the ancient City of Ruun has arisen from the depths.
Last we saw of [Drow] Dewcup she was attempting to find a way out of the buried city.
Up north, the population of the Black Mountain -headed by Maula Bloodhand and joined by the old Hobgoblins and the Bugbear King (and Hogga) are leading a successful seige and revolt against the Rannite Mistresses and Gorgons, their leader, the Rannite/Gorgon/Priestess Cerena having panicked and bolted through the mountains.
The heirs to the Black Mountain Throne – the children of Glon and his wives, have been safely removed into the Goblin Lands.
Gaggia has taken Gren and Bob to team up with Meegs.
King Runtherd, Eddy and some of the nobles have teamed up with Adwen and the Daughters of the Blade and the citizens of Elwood City to start trying to clear Rannites out of Elegrost.
Probably doesn’t help, much… that’s where I think we’ve gotten to.

IF Dewcup was carrying Ch’Thier’s soul, the best (and last) place anyone would look for a Good Soul would be inside an evil entity, so Ch’Thier might have hitched a ride with Drowcup since she was trying to get out of the city.
