Speaking of references to the previous comic…this definitely counts as "as bad"–if not outright worse.
The expressions and sound effects in the last panel are all that’s needed to convey what’s going on. Nicely done (for a given degree of nice, since we’ve got max crucifixions).
The only problem now is my brain *immediately* wants to start singing "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life".
Last strip, when people were predicting crosses, I didn’t think that was likely, because wouldn’t it be easier to start with the entire structure on the ground and raise it once your condemned is nailed to it? But the notches, now, have me thinking that it’s pretty efficient: Every time you have a vacancy, and someone to fill it, all you need is a new crosspiece!
Also, I REALLY like that the condemned are old and overweight. Since they don’t look like they’d be able to fight a guerilla war, it really makes you wonder what kind of treason they were getting up to. If any.

Actually these three specifically are nobles from Elegrost. Last time we saw them was at the Crown Tourney when Karak won the crown. And then later when he shouted warnings at them to do as he said (after killing the Duke).
Aha!

So I expect their act of treason boils down to "being nobles," as they’ve shown themselves not to be the type to voice protest.

Yes, the scary bit is, they’ve industrialized it, like an assembly line now….
…Now I’m wondering what the relationship between humans and orcs will be after all is said and done. If the orcs save the humans here, that’s going to have lasting effects. They’ll remember who saved them.
The orcs etc of the Black Mountain will murder you, torture you, steal your stuff and loads of other awful stuff. But I guess that this crosses (pun not intended) a line for them.
Does this strip’s title refer to the previous strip’s comments?

I think the Bright Side of Life is mandatory when a crucifixion scene occurs.
The screaming should be much louder than the hammering; the victims do not seem to have been beaten into a semi-comatose state before being nailed on.
Huh Guess it was not Jone, after all. Thank God.
Oh wait, no. This is worse. Much worse.
At least Jone kills you quick.
Ah. Well, that explains that.
How very Roman.
Welcome to the party. Feel free to hang around for a while.

Love the look on the Mistress face…
4: What the…

They’re mostly suprised having never seen the technique before.
Well, crucifixion needs head space ๐ Doesn’t go well with subterranean areas.
Shame Arachne isn’t around. She’d appreciate the new discovery to add to her repertoire.
It’s bad when the "Evil" races are mortified at the sight.
DON’T YOU GUYS GET IT?
It’s an Easter ‘toon!
Oooh look! A bent nail!
