Another option would be to look down, pop an arrow into the nearest unfamiliar foot, then while the gorgon’s screaming bloody murder get some distance for a better position.
I am hoping the plan was *not* simply to snipe all of them while Charles Hoodwinker lured them near. I am hoping there was more to the plan, and it’s still working.
If that is not the case, then it appears Caelin’s profound, Cadugan-like optimism and cheeriness convinced Charles to drop it.
I don’t think they realized that there was more than one gorgon. Only one gorgon came to the door to stone his brother and the Duke, and only one came to try and stone him. Hence Caelin’s "And that’s assuming there is only one of them."
Somewhat I get the feeling Caelin will be stoned, and Charles either kills Pidao and then ends up by Gram, or will be captured by the remaining gorgon(s). They be better off not stoning him, since they running out of humans.
But I sure hope I’m wrong and they rescue the others together. 🙂
She doesn’t wear her mask. I think most people would turn around if someone surprises them from behind. Especially if they know the person behind them has ill intentions.
Whatever you do, dont turn around!
But yeah… that leaves few options on the table..
Well, if one of them happens to have a mirror on hand, simply reach around a shoulder & hold it up in between their heads?
That’s not a very likely "if".
Best option? Dagger in hand, spin around quickly, looking *down* & make sure to aim at a point above the pair of feet that you *don’t* recognize.
Arachne would have this cold. Elbow to the throat. No turning required.
t!
Problem is, Arachne is dead!
Of course, she COULD take a page from Yellowbeard; To paraphrase, " She’s never more dangerous than when she’s dead!"
We say "dead", Arachne says "positioned right at the epicenter of Ranna’s new afterlife operations"…

Oh no.
When the monsters start cracking wise you know you’re in very, very deep trouble.

Which is odd, because if they’re assuming only one gorgon, then the plan has 100% succeeded by the time Caelin is denigrating it.
t!
Well he was denigrating that assumption.
I meant outside the cave, final panel of the previous strip.
t!
Ah, yes He probably should have expressed why it sucked rather than go along with it anyway. Hopefully the kid has a plan B

I would comment but, after looking at panel 4, I’m too petrified.
would be a intresting plottwist if this gorgon turns out to be helpfull, since she actually finds ranma a to demanding goddess or something 😛
I will say that gorgon is in the perfect "stab over the shoulder with arrow head, get jabbed in the eye" position.
Personally, I think it’s game over for the world! The good guys and the not so good guys are hosed, and the bad guys have won completely!
The game session has completely tanked!
Best thing now would be a Batman raise-fist-and-punch-behind-you-without-even-looking move.
Why is the gorgon revealing its presence? Overconfidence? Stupidity?
