She’s a gorgon. It appears that doesn’t trump that she was apparently an eighty pound old woman before she turned.

I think these three are ‘natural’ gorgons as opposed to converted humanoids, but typically Gorgons aren’t known for their physical strength, generally being depicted as the equivalent strength of a similar sized human woman. Pidao also appears to be an older gorgon so would be comparatively weaker and lighter than normal. That or Charles has freakish super strength for his age.

I think you are right about the gorgons. As for Charles, I would guess he is strong, but nothing that extraordinary. It’s a sort of medieval setting after all, where kids also often had to help out with chores, unless they were noble born. These chores might have involved physikal work as well, which trains the body. We can say for sure he is strong enough to use a bow and carry a deer which might not weigh much less than he does.

That is true, his family were at most working class, so chances are they’d be doing chores for themselves (even others) or physical labour. Not sure how old Charles is, but I’d guess somewhere between 11 and 13. Not to mention he was raised by his mom, an accomplished archer who taught Cadugan "everything he knows", so chances are she’s a ranger as well. Kid’s gonna go far if they live through this and Ranna gets the fate she deserves.

Since we are assuming Charles’ mom is a ranger, it can be said that she also taught him how to defend himself in the rough and tumble world of YAFGC.
She must of taught him to use a bow, so why not unarmed and at least dagger/knife use.

Palm strike! Kid has some martial arts experience!

As bent backward as she is, he might get have just snapped her neck! (We should be so lucky!)

    Oh, I guess it’s on nd of a thing…

That should have been " kind of a thing"…

This looks like it could be just as fatal.

A Three Stooges style eye poke would have been good, too.

Hard to tell here whether Pidao’s failing is hubris or underestimating Charles.

Probably both, but mainly the arrogance.

Nice move on Charles’ part, but I wouldn’t celebrate yet. The third gorgon seemed a lot more competent than Blinky and the Chin.

So you go through the rest of the dungeon with an arrow notched and ready to raise into firing position.

Imho not exactly the best plan to hunt a Gorgon in a cave with a line of sight distance weapon. You might be pretty stoned by the end of the day. ;b

Blindfight and blindsense are pretty great feats to take when the probability of gorgons is high.
