My thoughts: "What! Hey, leader fights leader, not follower fights leader!
…waaaaiiiit, that’s no follower, that’s her weapon! See, she’s using her cloak as a weapon. Totally legit."
According to D&D rules, when a cloaker is attached, the one it’s attached to takes half the damage of any attack on the cloaker, so if the chief attacks Cuddles, he’ll be hurting himself just as much.
I'm pretty sure that only counts if it's a third party attacking, not the one who is grabbed. Anyone on the outside hitting the cloaker will be hitting the victim too, but the victim isn't going to hit *themself* if they strike outwards.
Of course, this plan is predicated on the odds that the troglodyte can’t just force Cuddles to let go. If she’s as strong as has been suggested, it’s entirely possible that she’ll just yank Cuddles off and kill him. Of course, I doubt Nephilia cares about that possibility, being a drow queen, but it would mean she’d have to strike quickly to win this fight.
Cuddles has always been one of my favorite characters from YAFGC. When I first saw the Doctor Strange movie, the Cloak of Levitation made me think of Cuddles.
Hmm… If Cuddles does what I’m expecting, and wraps around the Troglodyte’s head, he’ll effectively render her blind, unable to use any scent ability and dampen her hearing… while also slowly suffocating her.
Which will likely have her flail and screech in panic, allowing Neph with her elven senses to pinpoint where to stab, slash or rend.

I agree! Very creative (and very Drow-like) interpretation of the rules.
Not the loophole I was expecting … but, I also wasn’t expecting a specific loophole because I felt there were too many options to sleuth it out
What warms me heart is that Cuddles found both a friend and a job that really suits his personality. We should all be so lucky.
Reminds me of the backstory for the "Ring of Energy" item from Baldur’s Gate 2.
I think she attacked before official start of fight so it wasn’t completely legit.
What were you waiting for, a ref to ring a bell?
They both entered the arena/battlegrounds. I think that’s enough of an "official start".
Well the troglodyte was waiting for final- … not sure what.
So, the troggy is lawful evil and Neph is chaotic evil…
Neutral evil would adequately describe her. Being willing to bend the rules doesn’t make her automatically chaotic.
*chuckles* well played using Cuddles!
Cuddled to death… there’s worse ways to go 😀
Death By Glomping!
… thats the way I wanna go… XD
Death by affection? Killed by kindness?
Well played, indeed, sir!
Death by Snu Snu!

(One of the best episodes!)
Just saw your avatar and name.
Gun any kreigs lately?
How can you tell when the writer has a cat? Death is preceded by cuddling.
Also, I note that being ‘prepared to die’ and being ‘prepared for death’ are NOT the same thing. Nice.
t!

She’ll…the Chief is a female.

I think the troggy is going to suffocate to death or surrender.
Once again we see the Drow are masters of cloaker and dagger tactics

I really wish this comment board had a like or an upvote button.
So where’s the dagger?
Wait for it…. It shows up in the next page, between Burnice’s ribs.
Heh, nice.
So happy to see Cuddles again. One more old friend accounted for post-crisis!

i wonder is this an unintended doctor strange reference :p after al he also had a cloak with a mind of its own 🙂
Technically, if something is unintended then it can’t be a reference. I think Rich said it was inspired by Indiana Jones in the last strip.
So did Spawn, but we aren’t calling a reference to that movie/comic.
Yay Cuddles!
This is what qualifies Neph as the Drow Queen.
She’s tricky as all hell.
Also she knows how to point and say "Kill" in a convincing manner. That’s important.
Next, I bet it’s a cover-up…
It’s curtains for him!
"Aw, they’re adorable!"

Yup, that’s a wrap. Extras in the back, you can go for teabreak 😀
Like yours better than mine. 🙂

Careful, Neph. Don’t stab, slash or rend your friendly cloaker.
Hey, a new variant of the Power Word Kill spell!
I am totally using a drow leader with a cloaker weapon in one of my campaigns.
