There’s always ways into a castle that the defenders don’t think of as access points. Château Gaillard was invaded by the enemy climbing up a chute uses as a toilet for instance.
That’s a legend. The truth is that they entered by the chapel’s windows; which were low enough to be reachable. The toilet chute story took off and is still widely believed as fact nowadays because it’s funnier and also because chapels are supposed to be too sacred to be used for combat.
The latrine chute led to the chapel, it was added by Richard’s brother John after Richard’s death. King Richard who designed the castle had it built on top of a plateau with steep cliffs to sides and rear, the only approach was the well armed front. Richard would never have allowed the windows to be placed low enough to be reached by a besieging force.
Getting OUT of a castle isn’t all that hard…she’s a werewolf, aren’t they supernaturally tough? All she has to do is jump off the battlements. Unless she lands on a silver spike, she should be fine.
I’m kind of curious about her control over her lycanthropy. Not sure we’ve yet seen evidence that she can at-will change at any time. Or how much control she has if/when she does change under various conditions. It’s kind of a performance art rather than a science, depending on how long someone has been turned & other experiences.
However, if she can just change … agreed. The option of jumping from a great height is there. And, if the height is too dangerous, there should be some sections of wall with even a slight grade to them. She could "run" down the wall a fair distance, getting enough traction to control her fall and survive a pretty brutal landing that most creatures couldn’t walk away from.
Apart from all that, I think there’s another option afoot. But, Maran escaping is going to be a bit obvious, and those who stay behind may pay quite a price … unless a small group of hem decide to attempt it together.
In any event, any escapee(s) are going to be tracked by a werewolf. Exciting hunt coming up. Which may well play right into Flannet’s skillset.
Has there ever been a fantasy castle that *didn’t* have secret escape routes? Even in real world history, castles were built to accommodate for clandestine passage more often than not.
I have an idea, but it would rely on at least part of the castle having shoddy architectural design, poor upkeep, or significant damage to a load bearing structure; and as I recall, most of the castle is intact (save for maybe a hole in the ground of the main hall if I recall correctly). Also, my idea might get someone (or everyone) we’re rooting for, killed. So, yeah… I think my idea is useless.

I didn’t know this, did Blizzard post a new comic?

Were ladies – there castle? (Bad joke is bad, sorry)
So…the fur will fly at some point, I assume. But yes, they need to work on a plan, and I’m confident they’ll find one.

Thanks for the exposition! It’s been a while.
(and the character archives are wonky)

even maula’s old place had a backdoor 😛
Chamberlain Greyfort, I suspect you’re going to hear not just one, but several excellent suggestions from Flannet. 🙂
I’m interested to see Madame hunter go on an adventure. Her family has quite the knack for it.

You may have just pointed out a way out unless they’ve filled in that hole and tunnel.
Ok, who has a better plan than sliding down the poop shoot?
Anybody!?
