Probably on the side of "punish the usurper". The fact that a curse exists means that what he says will probably pass some scrutiny, and anything that she doesn’t find mention of could be written off as "we preferred to keep that part secret". He could probably tell her just about anything and she’d have no way to verify it – especially if it’s the sort of thing that a bunch of ghosts could pull off.
Hey, does this mean Lucas can eat carrots until he reclaims Greyfort? Though I am sure by now they have bad associations for him. *wry smile*
Love that expression in the last panel, he knows when he has someone on a hook. I look forward to seeing what he tells her. Also, a carefully constructed ‘prophesy’ or ‘curse’ can cause people to take things that are happenstance, or from entirely different causes, and interpret them as being due to the curse. Add in the dark side of the placebo effect, and whether it is the real curse or not, he might be able to tie her in knots. *evil grin*
I get a feeling that the "curse" is that she must eat carrots from now on. Better said, that all ghosts will lie their incorporeal arses off. Or can we hope that they convince her to be the spouse?
If he spins it right, she’ll doom herself if she does marry some poor soul to become Baron. Since it’s the BARON’s spouse that dies horribly aka the Baroness, not the Baron himself.
Somehow I think if a spirit lies about the curse then the curse is null and void. You have to *willingly* break the rules to incur a curse (or someone has to on your behalf).
That expression in the last panel gives me shivers AND has me gleefully excited.
You rock.
t!
Just wanted to not, that in feudalistic times it was not unheared for someone to hold two titles. Duke of X Count of Y Baron of Z, entirely possible.
Well, there’s a LOVELY briar patch….
"I’ll bite," says the werewolf.
Can’t accuse her of dishonesty.
As a werewolf & a pretty strict carnivore, she won’t have to worry much about biting on the carrots part of the curse.
So there was "fine print" to the curse? X) Was one of the other elves quietly and quickly whispering all the subtext?
I believe they used the old trick of letting the fire cover the terms and conditions?
So who’s side is that guy on…
Wasn’t he that elf hater? If so Cad is in trouble.
But Niko’s Elf 2 ~~
You’re thinking of the first Baron Greyfort, Sir Rupert.

Not "usurp the punisher" ?
That won’t be easy. The Punisher tends to use automatic guns & hand grenades…
THAT hurt.
good joke, but it hurt.
LoL
I bet he’ll trick her into marrying the Baron so she’ll fall victim to the curse.

The 2nd last panel reminds me of Dora the Explorer 😀
You mean the ads on the top?
No, the second last panel of the comic where she’s sighing.
If he spins it right, she’ll doom herself if she does marry some poor soul to become Baron. Since it’s the BARON’s spouse that dies horribly aka the Baroness, not the Baron himself.

The ghosts aren't the ones responsible for the curse though. All they do is tell the new baron about it.
Though I suppose he could trick her into misinterpreting the curse.
THAT’s what I was thinking.
The curse falls on the lord and lady of the land.
Their official title has no bearing on the application of the curse.
The ONLY bearing is whether the are seen as the lord/lady of the realm.
nice
