      Fifty two exactly. They’ve counted.

Better than the Abyss! They keep changing their minds down there…

One Hell per card in a deck. (The Jokers are in the Abyss.)

Actually, the jokers wouldn’t even be counted. Have you seen any layer of hell that has a sense of humor? When YOU aren’t the punchline of the joke?

What? Don’t you think the joker laughs at you?

There’s either 9 or 666, depending on who you talk to. Either number is more of a metaphor than a hard and fast rule.

Come on guys. Fun is fun and all, but let her in on the joke already. She’ll probably be a little annoyed at first, and then she can have some laughs.

I sometimes feel like this when others change things around me and I have not kept up with said changes. Well, your son and potential daughter-in-law are on their way over, which should help.

      Son-in-law and former cellie, actually.

I take it the laughter is drowning out the snickering and giggles.

Might just be me, but the phrase "One minute you’re down, the next, you’re right back up again" springs to mind here.

Is it dark humour? Might be the ghosts thing. ..

Is there a synopsis of this twisted, convoluted plot somewhere? It’s really hard to understand who’s who and what’s exactly going on.

All this speculation about the number of hells…
He rolled a D100. In your hearts, you know you would have done the same.

Uhm, what the heck is a D100, and what does it have to do with this comic? Even if it’s based on a roleplaying game, is this a comic by a fantasy gamer, or a comic about fantasy gamers, or a fantasy by a comic gamer, or what? Is it simply two dice with ten faces each?

A D100 is a hundred sided die, used in gaming. t! is saying the cartoonist rolled one to decide the number of hells.

        Pretty much.
Although I always use two D10s instead of the effectively spherical and practically illegible D100.
