Aah, the dirty rotten- I mean, the audacious Baron Sir Rupert, I should have recognised his signature moustache, but I hadn’t seen him so skeletal before.
What about the leftmost baron in the fourth panel here http://yafgc.net/comic/3092-a-morning-surprise/ (also way back here http://yafgc.net/comic/0849-nevermind-the-whys-and-wherefores/ )?
Hmmm… High places, like this one, seem to be quite a good spot for a deadly curse to take effect. Just too much potential… A straight fall, or a roll on the countless stairs, or a lightning, or the sudden appearence of a giant, man-eating monster are just a few of them. 😀
My dibs would be on a gentle push from a certain revenant just at the right moment and at the right direction…
The ghosts presumably don’t care about Flannet, but they really, really care about a baron^Wduke of Greyfort being ousted by a pretender they don’t like.
Niko strikes me as the type to act on impulse and not pay attention to the details when something else has her attention. So the ghosts acting against her wouldn’t merit much of a reaction in the wake of a rival werewolf tearing her guards limb from limb.
The problem is Niko believes in another version of the prophecy. And to her dropping Flannet off the tower would be just her (Flannet) fulfilling her role (a terrible death), nothing more.
So… lord Elgin Muc, would you kindly MAKE. HASTE!
Something tells me Niko is gonna try to bungeejump. Shame about that missimg chord.
Alas, this former baron has no name, I guess?
Thank you for noting the oversight! I have corrected it. 😀

Oh yeah! Who is that? There are so many of them!!

"Is that a signal fire I see?"
"No, Lucas, it seems to be Lord Elgin Muc and one of those werewolves, and I think I see… MOM!"
Apparently the ghost really like Flannet.

Well, she is the current baron's mother-in-law, so technically family. Plus she's a sweetie.
Well, that was a height spirited attempt 😛
High spirited. I wish I wasn’t dyslexic….
Oh, just eat her, already! This isn’t Beetlejuice, and you’re not the Maitlands.
Risky gambit. Kinda plants the seed with Niko that the ghosts are not on her side, which may make her question the things they’ve said…
t!

The ghost was just trying to warn her that if she stays on that roof, she will be attacked by the wraith of Elgin Muc.
(She’ll also be attacked regardless of where she is, but don’t tell her that.)
