Oh, yea! Maran’s gonna be alright! Well. At least for a while. Good enough for this crazy world.
We don’t really know the exact mechanics on how the curse operates, of course. But, if we’re even close on track, Flannet should be able to use logic to realize that her other spouses are OKay. Elgin wouldn’t have shown up for Niko otherwise, one of the other husbands would have.
But, it’s fine. Might still be a detail or two on the curse left to reveal, plus Duchess (?) Flannet now has an excuse to develop and test her Dark Mistress Infiltration Team.
Flannet knows even less about the mechanics of the curse than we do — for all she can tell, Muc might have been Miko’s executioner because he’s angrier and more vindictive than the others, or because he lived locally and was conveniently placed. Of course, the other ghosts could explain things to her, if she sticks around the castle for a night.
But a road trip with the DMs would be fun too. What could possibly go wrong?
The thing you forget is Flannet doesn’t know what order the curse strikes in, if in any order at all. All she knows is at least one of her former husbands was not saved, despite signing the contract. Which in itself is a bit of a dubious method of cheating a curse, with an annulment signed by a dead duke
And, She hasn’t seen the contract successfully save anyone at all so naturally she’s concerned. Since she did the same thing with each spouse, but it definitely failed in one case. And being skeptical of defeating a curse with very fuzzy logic and paperwork is pretty normal I think
Indeed the ghosts might not know it seems all they know is collective trial and error. they didn’t mention which order the spouses die in if more then one is alive at the same time. Mad helen just said they lived long enough to provide heirs and she was born a greyfort, so its unlikely she had more then one husband at a time.
-…And in the interests of Maintening said lands and property under qualified supervision, Iname myself your life-partner, with vows implied and included
-Life p… Uh, don’t I get a say in-
-Sorry baroness Greyfort, It’s done.
If that’s the case, just have some duke of Grayfort marry Ranna. Let magic and Wood Elf curse duke it out. Or can Ranna threaten already-dead dukes? When snakeheads see Ranna’s not invincible, her belief base crumbles.
Flannet is one good person.

.oO(Da.M.I.T.)?
Flannet to action 😀
How much do you want to see her version of The Dirty Dozen?
Because that would ROCK.
t!
Is it a bird? No!
Is it a plane? No!
It’s Flannet falling off another castle. Doh!
Wouldn’t the ghosts have mentioned that the agent is always the last person killed?
Sure, if they know, and if they care to share the info. Two big ifs there.

Um she married her two husbands simultaneously to try to cheat the curse, that was the whole point…
Flannet, one of the most understated bad-asses in this universe!
how hasn’t any duke of greyfort weaponised the curse
"Surrender or I marry you!"
… doesn’t marriage require at least formal agreement?
Aparently …no

Ranna is a goddess. Do you *really* think a wraith like Elgin is going to be able to destroy her?
Flannet: "I have a job for you two."
DM: "Does it involve rope, hooks, a hammer, and 40 kg weights?"
Flannet: "Maybe….Not sure what supplies we will need yet."
Lucas before she goes upgrade her to Countess
