Is the Gorgon officer’s armor associated with any particular order or political entity? I’m curious as to whether she’s a corrupted good guy or started out a villain… though if they armor doesn’t offer identification there’s no way we could know, I suppose.
The Gorgon is wearing…. uh… okay the in-world description would be ‘Ruunti’ armour…. the ancient uniform of the soldiers of Ranna’s Legendary City which just recently rose from the depths of the Curtain of Abynn (Ranna wears a similar style). In RL, I based it loosely on Roman armour.
Well, you’d think a unicorn bunny would be a symbol of purity and cuteness, but if you look at the myths they’re basically the Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog…
Well, this is one of those "how to make a Paladin fall" scenarios if you are an evil GM. Being forced to torture innocents to save more innocents. If you’ve thought a bit more about it, inaction isn’t evil in that regard. It’s still the Rannites doing all the evil.
Okay, I’ll do it, right after I torture the portion of this city that still looks to you for protection and telling them that you had the option to stop this but chose not to. BYE!
Hey BK,
could you at some point share some lore about the gorgons?
For example:
Does becoming a gorgon just overwrite your loyalities? Does this only happen to the good girls? (Meegs and that Priestess) or do the bad girls lose their free will too? (Celena, Phiddipa)
Gorgons: So, in YAFGC there are a few different varieties of Gorgons.
(I won’t list them all comprehensibly here and now because I haven’t
decided on all of the facts yet.) There are "natural" Gorgons, that
is, ones that are born Gorgons of Gorgon mothers (who are their
fathers?? That’ll have to remain a mystery for now) and "created"
Gorgons, that is, women who have been turned into Gorgons by the
forces of Ranna. (As hinted at above, there are probably other
types as well.)
Ranna has a strong affinity for snakes and snake-kin. Her symbol is
the snake. But not all snakey-things worship her. There are
Rannite cults among the "natural" Gorgons and the Nagas and Lamias
and so on, but Ranna enjoys taking the precious ‘pure’ form of
Ch’Their’s Humanoids and corrupting them with the spirit of the
Rannite serpent which usually makes them turn into something
Gorgon-like. (There was a case of a Rannite priestess who didn’t
get snake-hair, but was a huge snake from the hips down and a
Human woman from the waist up.)
The nature of her ‘created’ Gorgons is perverted to be her servant,
but only as much as necessary to make them Rannites. So a priestess
who already worships Ranna’s chaos would remain pretty much unaltered
spiritually, while good people, like Vanessa’s daughter Sahar, are
completely hijacked to be a completely slave to Ranna’s will.
Morally ambiguous people like Meegs… well, who knows how much of
that is her and how much is Ranna.
These characters are corrupted, but Ch’Thier has the power to purify.
So those that were converted *can* be restored. Ch’Thier can’t do
anything for the ‘natural’ Gorgons since that’s just what they are.
So this gorgon lady has seven snakes… does that show a level of authority? And the ‘armor — is it metal, to protect against swords? If so, the chest plate has to be fitted carefully, to protect without squishing parts.
And the heads — they might want a pause from Ranna’s ‘care’. Bad choice: pain with gorgon lady or with Ranna.
They snake lady is so gonna die….
I see you want to be merciful to her … oh wait, Ranna is waiting for her.
I like those two names…Derived from "crying" & "malice." Nicely appropriate, Rich.
I thought the former was more a variation on ‘Corinne.’
It all depends which syllable is stressed and how the Y is pronounced. Fascinating.
t!
C’rhynne is pronounced like "Serene" (which I cannot take credit for, C’rhynne is Leorin’s creation.)
The more ham-handed "Malyss" is mine.
I am highly amused we both got it wrong.
‘Malyss’ works. It’s in character: Many of these Gloating Evil types revel in their lack of subtlety.

Its also interesting that she still has hair. (Wasn’t it normally all converted to snakes?)
Sometimes they keep their hair and grow snakes, sometimes their hair is completely replaced. It varies.
Meegs kept her own hair and had the snakes hiding in it remember.
Ah, right I forgot! That’s true. Sorry. π

Thanks. I recognized the classical influence, but wasn’t sure what that meant "in-game," so to speak. I appreciate the clarification.
There is evil evil and cartoon/comic evil but that is a whole extra level of ****ed up beyond issue of sin city staring hitler evil
The Age of Shadows is a dark time, indeed. It’s been fascinating to watch the [expletive] get real, since strip 3000….
Depending on how it is played, this could be some welcome comic relief. Lord knows we could do with more comic evil rather than depressing evil.
And here I thought there was a *good* reason for waking them up. You know, like they still had valuable intel.

Looking forward to getting a good look at the emblem on C’rhynne’s tabard. Heraldry ahoy!
As long as it’s not another unicorn bunny.
You don’t like Ch’Their’s Al’mi-raj?
Well, you’d think a unicorn bunny would be a symbol of purity and cuteness, but if you look at the myths they’re basically the Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog…
I, for one, welcome our new badass score-settling unirabbit overlords. Can’t be worse than the current management that’s taken over Tempul!
If I were one of those piked heads, I’d probably laugh my head off just to spite them.
It’s kind of hard to laugh when you don’t have lungs, a diaphragm, or a throat.
It’s also hard to cry, wail, or talk.
Just smile, or frown. They’ll get the idea.
It's magic so they probably will be able to talk, but even if not, just make silly faces at them.
Wait. Who’s hand is that in the last panel?
It’s the Gorgon officer’s left hand.
Well, this is one of those "how to make a Paladin fall" scenarios if you are an evil GM. Being forced to torture innocents to save more innocents. If you’ve thought a bit more about it, inaction isn’t evil in that regard. It’s still the Rannites doing all the evil.
Itβs a sure way to make a Robot fall, though.
Jeeze, another gorgon who’s overdue for decapitation.
If the powder works on its own, go do the thing yourself. I mean, the heads are right there. Sheesh.
But where’s the psychological torture in that? Make one of the locals do it, & mess with her head, too.
Oh, I see the logic. My response would be literally "do it your f***ing self."
Okay, I’ll do it, right after I torture the portion of this city that still looks to you for protection and telling them that you had the option to stop this but chose not to. BYE!
C’rhynne being completely eble to look them in the eye, and impervious to the whole gorgon thing, interesting.
The gorgons’ masks mitigate the gaze effect, I believe. It’s come up before in the series.
she wouldn’t be as useful as one right now then (so it’s by choice of them) got it.
Thanks π
Another head case…
And Rich, where do you get your inspiration for all these S&M women???
One of my all time favorite fantasy computer games: Dungeon Keeper.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dungeon_Keeper
Ah, not one I played. I think I was too busy in work at the time and into Unreal shortly after.
The before that I was into Eye of the Beholder. Such a classic!

Ohhh, good questions. I will write up a description and post it today. (Some if it I’ll have to think about, actually.) Thank you!

Interesting…seems once this is all over and Ranna is dust, C’their owes a whole lot of purifications.
thx for the "heads up" ^^
