This is a call-out to 3xp4t, can you try to contact me please? I’ve got some geo-sciencey questions to discus with you as I try to put together my map of the Uagi desert region. π

Dogs will always be dogs
I’m a fox, thank you very much. π
I won’t contradict you on your own character… but I will say that I once lived with a golden retriever who had precisely the same attitude that your character is displaying here. <3
The blend of "pooka" and "fox" is a particularly powerful one. T’Chall is a delightful fellow, if a rather caffeinated one at the moment!
Thank you for the kind words, Rancourt. But I’m hardly caffeinated at all. I’ve only had 40 or 50 cups. This morning. π
Hmm, is a pooka related to a kobold? I sense a certain… esprit in common.
Hahaha! That’s an interesting thought.
Pooka? He looks like gnoll. I guess he could be a pooka shifted into the shape of a gnoll. In either case, curious, excitable, scatter-brained.
T’Chall’s statements actually make sense in context, while Fang’s statements need … interpretation. Ah, Captain Fang, the king of the non-sequiturs.
Although it looks similar to other beings in the world, this creature is in fact a manifestation on our Plane of Thnk-U-Cap, the God of Exposition.
t!
Hmm, last time we saw a mirror like that, a certain failed elemental wizard was using it to trick a certain band of adventurers… (and was outwitted by a witless genie)
My first thought was thinking ‘when did we last see T’Chall?’ Until my brain went ‘D’uh – in the comments and forums’.
Congrats T’Chall π
Alas, my name will never be used because it’s too silly :p
but is apparently signed across a glacier somewhere in Norway…
Every good artist… π
Thank you. π
Thank you, Herk, that should be.
I think I’ll like this pooka.
(Two teeny tiny spelling comments, by the way. It needs to be "mementos" in panel 4 and "mirror" in panel 5.)
From yourdictionary.com
momento
noun
The definition of a momento, often spelled memento, is anything that reminds someone of something.
I tried it both ways then did a quick google search and found this one first.
"Miror" is a slip, often my keys stick when I’m trying to type double letters and I don’t always catch it.
"Momento" could, I suppose, be an invented portmanteau neologism meaning "reminder of a very particular moment," and if you want to leave it, you can gloss it that way, but you should know that it is otherwise a misspelling. The actual English word has been around for a long time: "memento," which is etymologically related to "memory".
Usage matters, of course. If a misspelling becomes very common, it does take over. Some changes that started as errors do eventually get to be correct. I don’t think "momento" is there yet, though. It’s still in wince-territory for those who know the real word.
Or… I just noticed… "telecommunication" also needs 2 m’s… you could just decide that T’Chall-the-character does this all the time, as a character trait, along with ignoring direct orders to mind the bar, and go for broke! π
Yes, I know now that ‘momento’ is an erroneous misspelling based on the connection with the word ‘moment’ rather than ‘memory’, but when I made the error and looked it up I found the dictionary entry and figured I could leave it without taking too much flak. Obviously I was wrong. As for the double/single letter words, as I stated earlier, my keyboard sticks when I type them and I don’t always catch it.
It would be hard to accept, I think, that a character’s speech impediment includes accidentally dropping double letters.
The fact is, it’s an error on my part and I shall endeavor to keep them to a minimum.
Always figured ‘momento’ sounded better, as in ‘it’s a moment in time’
No worries, I didn’t want to nitpick. It’s just that I’d actually never heard the word ‘momento’ at all, so I had no idea it was out there.
(And since I haven’t commented here for a while and thus haven’t said it for too long: I absolutely adore this comic. Keep up the great work, sticky keys or no! :))
I’m looking forward to this adventure!
Shouldn’t it be "mementos"?
Also, I can’t believe it took me so long to notice the name "T’Chall" appears both in the comic and the comments…
Same individual π
Well, I know that now π
Dave and T’Chall certainly picked up lots of stuff over the years…I still remember the time they brought out "The Weapon".
And I thought that pooka was excitable before… π
Heh, T’Chall is cute when he is curious and excited. Also, good way to tell the audience what is happening.
Etymology intrigues me, so I checked up on Momento before jumping on it as a misspelling of memento.
It’s a variant of memento from association with memorable moments. And is now so common in usage that is no longer considered a misspelling in some references.
And I know a certain otter just like T’Chall is in this comic.
I clicked on the character link for T’Chall and didn’t see several strips I remembered – turns out there’s separate cast entries for "T-Chall" and "T’Chall the Pooka".
Ah yes! Thanks, I’ve got to fix that. π
Fixed!
I bet it’s not Fang he’s calling, but Captain Safana–or Princess Adina.
Yes, was thinking them as well, couldn’t remember the name of their ship though (or even if it _had_ one)
Butt believing it more likely to be a flying ship, we have seen one once before, when an old Halfling adventurer died and was reunited with his former traveling buddies (and no, that is not a spoiler butt a recap), not sure if that was their real flying ship carried over to the Spirit world or just a Spirit Ship _modelled_ on their ship and giving power of flight
But this is so much more exciting than minding the bar!
depends on the bar
How exciting can a bar get in the middle of Elf-town? o_O
Excitable, ain’t he?
Of course, that sort of enthusiasm could be considered a blessing in these dark times.
(THEIR dark times, not ours. Although…)
Only one tail he’s A young kit he is !
T-Chall’s a Pooka, not a Kitsune.
