3199 The Plan
on April 3, 2019
Chapter: Voyage of the Azure Osprey
Characters: Califfa Vanessa Al Saugren min Ch'Thier, Captain Darcy, Eddy the Mage, Lord David, Nin, Queen Anna of Shallmar, Runtherd "Runt", T'Chall the Pooka, The Fox, Turg
Location: Ch'Thier's Celestial Tomb
Good on you for volunteering, T’Chall…but I hope you don’t end up regretting your words…Lord Dave doesn’t look as enthused. 😀
That’s because he just took a pooka-elbow to the ear (he use to be an adventurer)
Hmm, didn’t someone else lock Ranna up once?
Can’t remember who they were at the moment, or how they did it…
Starts here: https://yafgc.net/comic/2722-the-legend-of-ranna-and-chthier/
Every magic user in the world in the same place, trying to cooperate? Sounds like all the worst parts of middle school with tactical nukes thrown into the mix.
I can’t help but reflect more warmly on any number of my school-age memories when I imagine them improved with a judicious admixture of nuclear weapons.
Sounds like an All You Can Eat Buffet for the Goddess of Magic, and someone is about to ring the dinner bell
Is everyone ignoring two very important things? Namely, Lavenna and Zac, last seen, plummeting to the ground
Oh nevermind, they were new unimportant characters, no one in that crowd will miss them (or care)
A-team: "What on Earth are they doing?"
"Flying a tank."
So, all Zac needs to do is swing his Axe up really fast just before they land and it’ll cancel out their speed – and landing on a lake might help – or landing on a Rannite 😀
OK taking the bait – what’s wrong with the physics here:
* Momentum is conserved. To cancel out their speed, the axe should go *down*, not up – like rocket fuel.
* "Cancelling out their speed" means abrupt, huge acceleration, which is the thing that kills you at the end of a fall.
* All that accelerating force is channeled through Zac’s hands. I think he would be *worse* off than if he just hit the ground flat. (This part I’m not very sure of.)
Calls to mind a scene from a Discworld novel.
The novice witch Magrat Garlick was plummeting groundward at the controls (such as they are) of a burnt-out broomstick, while her senior colleague Granny Weatherwax flew on without her to deal with some time-critical mission. Magrat reflected, just before impact, that it’s actually quite flattering when Granny ignores the fact that you’re in mortal danger. It means she figures you’ll find a way to save your own life…
As long as they don’t make a dog’s dinner out of it, what could possibly go wrong?
Is that the reason there’s so little magic in the future? They use so much of it to lock her up and that amount gets locked up with her?
*grins*
Does our heroes know that Ranna has absorbed other gods and gained also their powers?
No, no they don’t, Steady Eddie simply believes they are ‘laying low’, or the equivalent of ‘not returning his phone call’
At least the Nord gods were seen to be still fine a while after Ranna awoke. https://yafgc.net/comic/2992-gertrudes-saga-09/
Forgot that that crossover happened after The Awakeninging
I can’t tell what’s in the foreground of the first panel. An arm sticking out of a sleeve? A butt sticking out of a shirt? A novelty lamp sticking out of its lampshade?
One thing we can rule out is T’Chall’s butt, since… tail.
If they’re buttcheeks then they’re very well looked after 🙂
Kinda looks like the palm of a hand, if the hand is on the edge of a table and we are looking at it from the other side
Ooooooh!
You never see them plummet to the ground, you see Zac catching Lavenna with forward momentum, probably towards the ship.
But you never see them fall.
This was meant to be a reply to Guesticus!!!!
You fools! By saying your plan onscreen, you’ve doomed it to failure!
Damn! Had written a long-winded diatribe about hack writers (NOT Rich), butt Paige Error ate it 🙁
Could this be the first cameo of someone "mooning" a shot during production?
Rich – admit it. It’s all those wild parties you’re having, don’t lie. Don’t hide all the wonderful details from us…
You wouldn’t do that to us, would you?
Well, we know where the Chaos Magic component is coming from.
t!
King Captain Fang? Where _has_ he been hiding these last few (in-world) months?
Oh, you meant T’Chall?
