3331 Counter Attack
on April 24, 2020
Chapter: Ranna's Fulcrum
Characters: Cadugan, Glon Smitharm/Bloodhand, Hogga the Hobgoblin, King Eric I of Drostardy, King Eric III of Drostardy, Perendelee "Roberta" Harper, Stonefoot, Two-Heads Ed
Location: Elegrost Fields
My monitor isn’t wide enough to show the scale of this battle! Still, I’ll be looking for this on HBO next year.
Hogga does an impressive orc face!
I’d judge it fiercer than the actual orc at her side, and possibly rivaling the until-now undisputed champion, Urzal Firelight.
Impressive indeed, for a hobgoblin 😀
The two Eric’s also do an impressive orc-face as well 🙂
Good to see Ed again
Who is the orc in the last panel though?
I thought it was Princess Shaija of the Red Orcs at first glance, but a few strips back in 3322 she was shown with an entirely different set of armor, helm, and weapon, so… not sure. Could just be an anonymous orc warrior-woman we haven’t met. Goodness knows, all of them will want some vengeance, after what Ranna did to their mountain.
Thought it might have been Princess Shaija as well, the hair is different though
It is an anonymous Orc extra. 🙂
She’s cute, hope she makes it and earns a name
RUMBLE !
Some music, from West Side Story, "The Rumble." https://youtu.be/0vbipXD0zHs
STOMPING PARTY!
THE BATTLE IS JOINED!!!!
For real, thought that was a naked halfling in the bottom left panel! Took me a minute to see the clothes.
We see what we want to see…. pervy Hobbit-fancier.
Hey now, maybe she’s just a Hobbit version of a Pictish berserker? Is she only covered in Wode? 😉
Nope. It’s pretty clear that she’s wearing a tunic and pants at least.
VERY skin-tight pants.
I fancy all the short races, hobbits, goblins, kobolds, gnomes, imps, and fairies. shorty squad for the win.
For a second I thought it was a crossover from the other strip 😀
Yup, we’re all just perverts. And some of us are old enough to get away with it. 😛
And here we go…
I love the way tension is being built here.
In other fights, the attacking has been shown simultaneously, on different sides of the page. But by NOT doing that here… I’m on edge.
t!
By not splitting the page by sides, it also helps to show the immense scale of it all!
That, too!!!
t!
It’ll be interesting to see how they deal with the Gorgons. Blind axemen or mirrored shields, perhaps?
All it would take is a few beholders.
Are beholders immune to a gorgon’s stare?
Yes.
Levitating lawn trimmer.
t!
True, an unintelligent device, or even just a few well-aimed catapults could take them out. Or explosives… where was that survivalist gnome last seen? Or a few nice large heavy rocks pitched over the side of their airship… There is probably a reason you don’t usually hear about gorgons being in fantasy armies.
Yeah, I mean Gorgons seem fearsome, but their greatest weapon is also their greatest disadvantage.
It’s dangerous only if you’re unprepared and caught by surprise in a dungeon. Out in the open, with limited range and knowing exactly where they’re coming from, they’re more dangerous to themselves and friendly troops — if they won’t look in the mirror, others in their ranks will.
huh I wonder what the chimeras doing during all this.
Y’know, I still have hope Hogga will join the royal polyamorous relationship. She has just been an amazing character all the way through, and she’s stepped all the way up every time she’s been needed
I think it is more likely she will end, if they survive, closer to Runt. I mean, she fancies him, if I’m not wrong and he doesn’t dislike her. With her fiancee married to other man and him growing up, they might set quite the alliance.
Is the halfling really Roberta? As I thought she was with the other mages planning something magical and having some power growing inside her.
The halfling rushing into combat with a dagger (could be a short sword) seems more a Clover thing.
The halfling wizards are Naomi and her daughter Helen. Roberta is their good friend, the ex-adventuring innkeeper who uses too much cayenne, and is Cypress’s mom.
Guess I’m just getting confused.
Clover is a rogue and an assassin… rushing into battle is most certainly not her thing. She’d be sneaking up somewhere unseen.
