This just keeps getting better and better.
I know, right???
Pass the popcorn, would you?
I’ve got the drinks & chocolate.
The Beholder King: When you absolutely positively need to fuck up a goddess right now!
Next up – bowling with beholders.
*squees* Gren!!!!
…
Oh, and an army of beholders and their Godking.
This guy gets tricked all too easily.
In all those years of cogitation, even that slow-rolling Sphere MUST have gotten wise to Bob’s tricks, and decided to tolerate this lèse-majesté in exchange for a steady supply of deities to trounce.
Remember Bob is foretold to be the one to kill the Beholder King, but nothing says anything about him bringing about his death directly.
Was it said, that Bob kills him? Wasn’t that only an assumption of the Beholder King? I remembered him to be the next king, but not how he gets there.
I still wouldn’t be surprised, if actually it would be Bob2, who becames the next king. He is clearly the more powerful one, and technically he is called Bob too.
As you said, fairly sure it was just that the next King was going to be called Bob
Just going how beholders tend to remove leaders
Well, TECHNICALLY, he’s not being fooled time… She really IS the reason he’s being disturbed…
good lord…. We haven’t seen him for 8 years!
Well, he’s been sleeping! You can’t expect someone that old to give up on a nap that quickly
Like a fiddle.
I was wondering where the beholders were…
Is he any worse, knowing who is going to replace the Beholder King?
I tried disagreeing with a beholder once. It was a circular argument. 😛

Definition of moral: Right behaviour.
Definition of right: What is moral.
Google it. 😉
Oh shit! Here comes Mongo!
Not enough years healing (he said he would need decades)
He still looks wounded
It’s useful, being smarter than your god.
They just even the odds.
Turns out, Beholder King is Ranna’s old pet (he just… forgot)
Ranna: "Heel!"
BK: "Hmmph. Yes, you are."
She ain’t no Babyface, that’s for sure
Okay Rich, just how many "#### just got real!" buttons did you set up for this arc?
All those Beholders, and I start thinking, "Rollin’, rollin’, rollin’, keep those Beholders rollin’…."
Sung to the theme from Rawhide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKC8pSFg1Vw
But the crack of the whip is actually the sonic boom, not from a few ounces of leather, but of a few ounces of DC electrons, in the form of the thunder from multiple simultaneous lightning bolts. Hmm, 20,000,000 volts at Yikes! amps due to the massively parallel discharge yields one fried goddess with multiple alternate impacts, referred to as collateral damage.
Nerd Logic!! YES!
Well, isn´t that like using a tactical nuke to get rid of an annoying mosquito? Seems a little bit of an overkill.
Only if the annoying mosquito is twice Godzilla’s size. IMO this won’t be the lopsided fight you seem to think it will be.
OTOH, I’m pretty sure he’s enough of a threat to engage Ranna’s undivided attention…..
Just how powerful can a Beholder get? I means, he’s huge and all, but against a diety? Isn’t there a limit on the effectiveness of disintegration, or outright immunity? I’m not an old school D&Der, just played the original two Baldur’s Gate games on PC (and didn’t even manage to finish either).
Think of it this way: Bulletproof isn’t necessarily fireproof. Projectiles may just scuff the surface, but enough heat, continuously applied, will eventually breakdown the glass structure and it will melt.
Dieties are not infallible. They have their weaknesses. It’s just a matter of finding one and taking advantage of it.
You should play the ‘Eye of the Beholder’ Trilogy (have most of the Forgotten Realms PC games, the only two I’ve reached the end to is "Pool of Radiance" and the first ‘EotB’, didn’t have full party survive so don’t really count those)
The King managed to kicked Lloth out of the Plane
He fought Lolth to a standstill, so… pretty powerful. For all practical purposes, this is the god of the Beholders.
Bob, you unscrupulous prick.
Don’t ever change.
t!
Not sure why, but I really love the faraway expression on the Grell’s beak in panel two. "Just thinking…"
As I said before: It’s just really not Ranna’s day…
And somewhat I have that feeling, there is still more to come…
Now they just need to get to the battle before Ranna will be defeated.
Their arrival might be one of the conditions the Magical Cavalry require before they can make their planned move.
"Wizards are never late, nor are they early. They arrive precisely when Bob manages to drag that grouchy overgrown beach ball out of his bedrock."
Seeing all of these legacy characters come back for the big fight and I’m just over in my corner still crying over Arachne…
Do you have room for one more?
There is only one thing to say:
Oh, Dang.
On the plus side, he's kicked goddess booty before. The downsides are that he still looks like he hasn't recovered from that fight, Ranna is more powerful than Llolth is, and if he *wins* then they have to put up with him being awake again. 😛
