Poor Slissy. In her place, I think that NOT knowing what horrible thing we had done might be worse than having the memory back.
Also, I imagine that here on her home ground and at her full power, the flow of time is pretty much at Ch’Thier’s discretion. Wouldn’t seem right for each of these touching exchanges to happen at the expense of dozens or hundreds of lives lost on the battlefield outside.
Yeah, I’m not sure telling them "Oh yeah, you did something really bad. Like, SO bad. The absolute worst. Won’t tell you what though, don’t worry about it!" is all that merciful a move by Ch’Thier. Can’t imagine that sitting well.
Might be a plot point in the future, with Slissy potentially asking Ch’Thier to give her her memory back, resulting in a flashback. We’ll see what Rich has planned.
That’s not what she said
Do agree that they will find out one day (where did Slissybus go anyway?), there is at least one person in the crowd who still has their memory intact
Witch: “So what is your third wish?”
Man: “I have no memories. I wish to remember everything about myself!”
Witch”*Ha*! <magically snaps her fingers> That was your _first_ wish!”
I remember people speculating that it might have to do with their son Rowan.
Even if Goldwolf didn’t talk about it, and Ayane simply doesn’t talk, the fact that they agreed so readily to reunite the old team suggests that Philip’s theory that "we all got exactly what we wanted, except for one detail that turns it all to ashes in our mouths" does ring true to them.
I fully expected Trevor to swoon at being recognized by Ch’Thier, for some reason. Either he’s made of sterner stuff than I thought, or that’s the kitty aspect of him. 🙂
Okay, the thought of Trevor getting a mad case of the zoomies over the prospect of writing a multi-volume firsthand account of a religious miracle at what would have otherwise been the end of civilization as we know it…is entirely too adorable.
So… for a long time, I didn’t understand how Ranna was getting away with so much, how she was roflstomping all the other gods, and it kept bothering me. But then I happened to re-read these folks’ story, and realized that I had completely forgotten that Ranna and Ch’Thier just straight up were the most powerful deities in the world until they lost their physical bodies, and the other gods had been pretty much marginalized until then. So that’s that explained!
…but now I can’t remember if there was any particular reason why the sisters were so powerful, or if it just happened that way?
It’s in the ‘climax’ section of the chapter "Force of Hobbits". There’s a drop menu on the right of the comic that allows you to jump to the different chapters. But the link is here:
https://www.yafgc.net/comic/force-of-hobbits/
Does that mean Slissy has been ‘touched by an angel’ (Immaculate Conception), or simply been made fertile again and William has to still do ‘his part’?
this is YAFGC, it’s foundation is built on pictures of goblin tits and slaves ass up in drow torture rooms, it’s fairly safe to assume they’re gonna bang when this is all over.
Precisely. It’s aesthetics, nothing more. If you were drawing stick figures this comic would still work. We’d lose a lot of the facial characterization, but the *drama* of the strips would still be there.
These last two strips exemplify that. The build up of the action, the passions of the distinct personalities. THAT is why people go back and binge read three *thousand* strips, that’s what YAFGC has always been about.
Modesty prevents me from just agreeing with that shamelessly, but I like to think that there’s definitely some drama, storytelling and character development that brings people back… and drives me to keep making them. The boobs and stuff is fun, but they’re drawn better and the sex is far more explicit in other comics.
I agree with t! on this one. The art is a huge bonus (especially for people who like to draw, but still learning it), but its really the story, the people, and the humor of YAFGC that brings me back.
"The boobs and stuff is fun…"
I totally agree to this one too.
"… the sex is far more explicit in other comics."
True, but having explicit sex scenes is not working everywhere equally, and unless you have a specific target group, it won’t constitute to the quality of the comic. I think the level of nudity and stuff in YAFGC is well suited to it’s atmosphere: it provides some flavour to it, and in the right amount. It doesn’t need more, and while it surely would work with less, it really shouldn’t ;).
"The boobs…drawn better …in other comics."
That is something I can’t agree to. As 3Xp4t wrote before:
You do "the entire female form (all species & races) pure justice, and always a joy to behold. Ain’t gonna complain about any of the guys either."
Goodness. I’m a little late to this party, but I note that t! has already said nearly everything I would or might have said. (This comes as no surprise to me, mind you.)
To suggest that YAFGC is "built upon" breasts is a little like suggesting that Asimov’s Foundation series was built upon Garamond. It was built *with* breasts, but I don’t think its essence can be reduced to "breasts."
They were the bait. They grabbed your eye, drew you in…convinced you to stick around long enough to appreciate what YAFGC really *is* about. I freely admit, once upon a time, it was Nike who caused me to stop, blink, and check out this comic with the sexy harpy. I didn’t know about the depth of character, the nuance of story, the epic, unfolding saga that would lie ahead, because…well, it hadn’t been shared, yet, and I was a stranger to Rich’s work, back in 2006.
Indulge me the bit of presumption, if you would — but I think what Rich meant by the "better drawn and more explicit elsewhere" was less a condemnation of his own artistic skills, and more a gentle observation that folks looking for a more pornographic experience…will find it elsewhere. Once the novelty of the nudity and sexual diversity found in YAFGC wears off — note, not the appreciation thereof, only its novelty to the reader — what keeps one here is that…well, these are people we care about, in stories we care about. Folks whose primary goal is to scratch a certain kind of itch will surely seek out…well, shall we say, things designed to be backscratchers. Folks who return to YAFGC, while they may appreciate the breasts, are likely here for the host of things YAFGC has on offer…only one of which being, yes, many lovely breasts on occasional display.
YAFGC has certainly grown and changed over the years, but even in its infancy, it was never quite just "that monster boob comic." I think most of us, even back then, noticed this.
Honestly, I think it’s safe to assume there’s going to be a lot of banging for a great number of people on the victorious side out of sheer relief that they/their loved ones are safe/survived.
Even before I read your comment I was wondering – why is Ch’Thier not also touching William’s groin? Was he not cursed? He was part of the party that did what they did.
Then I scolded myself for such a profane thought. This is a beautiful, emotional episode.
Depending on when they last ‘tried’, William’s ‘troops’ may still be ‘on the field’, and… just had a "The Family Guy" image of the barrier around Slissy’s eggs being dropped and William’s sperm getting the orders to attack (like that episode when Stewie shrunk himself to prevent a brother being conceived)
The plan was to trap Ranna, not to bring back Ch’Thier. Therefore I find it likely, that not all present belong to her believers. As for one, Lewie was shown to follow Kila till the end of Lich of the Ring arch, and I can’t picture him turning to any other god after that.
They’re not all direct followers of Ch’Thier, but it’s a polytheistic setting. I imagine that most of the people in the room are "believers" in the sense that they have always recognized Ch’Thier’s existence and benevolence, even if they haven’t devoted their lives to her. (Of course, some of the arcanists may agree with Granny Weatherwax, who when reminded that the gods undeniably exist, scoffed "That’s no call to go around BELIEVING in them. It only encourages ‘ em.")
Slissy, for example, addressed her ceremonial plea to "O gods of love and fertility" — not to Ch’Thier — but I don’t think she’s being at all hypocritical right now when she calls Ch’Thier "my goddess". She can have direct personal bonds with her and William’s tribal gods, while also loving and supporting Ch’Thier as the single most powerful force for good in the cosmos.
I know. I’m still hoping against hope that the museum scene from the future is only a possible outcome and that Ch’thier isn’t as limited as being unable to find her hidden in a cave as a statue.
I think the museum scene is real, but it might not mean exactly what it seems to mean.
Scale: "There; looks like Eddy’s stone-to-flesh spells worked great, and Vanessa knows how to get those snake tails out of their brains. But we still need to get the faces perfect on these replica statues; if Hank doesn’t recognize Meegs in the museum, we’ll never have known to return to this time at all."
Sir Idries (blushing brick-red): "We’ll commission the finest sculptors! Spare no expense!"
Poor Slissy. In her place, I think that NOT knowing what horrible thing we had done might be worse than having the memory back.

Paraphrased from “Planescape: Torment”:
Witch: “So what is your third wish?”
Man: “I have no memories. I wish to remember everything about myself!”
Witch”*Ha*! <magically snaps her fingers> That was your _first_ wish!”
I was thinking the same "ok, ok, good to see you, here have some gifts…but for your own sake! There is people dying!!!"
It IS possible everyone on battlefield is too surprised by her to fight.
Talking is a free action (lol,jk).
Wait, so what was the curse? The related comics didn’t seem to mention it.
I don’t believe it was ever explicitly mentioned. You have to infer it from the regrets of Gold Wolf’s band.
Come to think of it, how did the curse affect Goldwolf and Ayane?
I remember people speculating that it might have to do with their son Rowan.
Even if Goldwolf didn’t talk about it, and Ayane simply doesn’t talk, the fact that they agreed so readily to reunite the old team suggests that Philip’s theory that "we all got exactly what we wanted, except for one detail that turns it all to ashes in our mouths" does ring true to them.
Isn’t her band responsible for freeing Ranna in the first place by removing that hand, which kept Ranna sealed?
After stealing the hand they teleported out, but,as Lewie’s sister warned, they forgot everything.
I fully expected Trevor to swoon at being recognized by Ch’Thier, for some reason. Either he’s made of sterner stuff than I thought, or that’s the kitty aspect of him. 🙂
Just imagining Trevor later having a bout of the kitty-crazies, running all around his space in frantic joy. ❤️
Okay, the thought of Trevor getting a mad case of the zoomies over the prospect of writing a multi-volume firsthand account of a religious miracle at what would have otherwise been the end of civilization as we know it…is entirely too adorable.

Good PR.
I have forgotten… what was the deal with Naoni? Why does she have that power?
You need to re-read her flashback, to the last time Ranna was fought, and the prophecy
can you link to that section?

That is *not* the foundation. At all.
t!
It’s more like the old and tattered wallpaper.
Precisely. It’s aesthetics, nothing more. If you were drawing stick figures this comic would still work. We’d lose a lot of the facial characterization, but the *drama* of the strips would still be there.

It’s just the curse being lifted. Warranted a secondary effect is that she may be fertile again (if she was before).
Touching her there would not be incidental (could have just as easily placed a finger on her head, or both of them)
Even before I read your comment I was wondering – why is Ch’Thier not also touching William’s groin? Was he not cursed? He was part of the party that did what they did.
Then I scolded myself for such a profane thought. This is a beautiful, emotional episode.
It might also have something to do with the fact that William is on the ground fighting right now.
…so Ch’Thier, not limited by petty matters of time and space, might be multitasking.
William, glaring down a phalanx of Dark Mistresses: "HEY! Which one of you just touched my groin?"
Oops, my mistake – I thought that William was the one standing next to Slissy, but that’s Philip.
Yes, but to jump from that to conception is a bit extreme.
Yeah, I don’t think Rich thinks like that.
No, of course not, that’s why the degenerates think it for him
speaking of degenerates and Goblin tits are y’all aware there is only 1 YAFGC image on Rule34 paheal? it’s of Slissy and Slissybus.
Well, Goddess gracious me!
Well put, 3P0.
It is a Good god, and not only a goddess of the good. I like it (and this is say for someone at war with gods and believers).
But i see there are believers more equals than others.
The plan was to trap Ranna, not to bring back Ch’Thier. Therefore I find it likely, that not all present belong to her believers. As for one, Lewie was shown to follow Kila till the end of Lich of the Ring arch, and I can’t picture him turning to any other god after that.

Addressing Her as ‘my goddess’ could also be an honourific, like how you address a judge or royalty
Yeah, but when you’re this deep in the muck, do you really care that the goddess you just summoned isn’t the one you worship?
While the Ancients tended to have a Primary Deity they followed, they still respected the others (mostly, with a few exceptions)
Usually but it depends on who answers and if they pass the message along without playing the operator game lol
Thinking about it… there’s at least one of Ch’thier’s followers who got Ranna instead….
Yeah, poor Celena. I feel bad that she’ll be out of commission for the (presumed) unbrainwashing stage of the aftermath of this whole mess…
I know. I’m still hoping against hope that the museum scene from the future is only a possible outcome and that Ch’thier isn’t as limited as being unable to find her hidden in a cave as a statue.

Sir Idries (blushing brick-red): "We’ll commission the finest sculptors! Spare no expense!"
We can only hope 😀
Evil may be entertaining, but there’s really nothing quite like a good, merciful and loving diety.
Very well said! Thank you. 🙂
Well said, indeed. Thank you.
Let the baby making begin!
…. maybe it would be better to wait AFTER the battle.
I, for one, would be in favor of wars being settled by each side sending their best sexiest and having a sex-off for world domination.
I wanna judge!!!
ah yes, I see you are a man of culture as well.
