Maybe, maybe not. I guess this is when we find out just what she’s been learning since becoming an acolyte of Ch’Thier…
How to eat a blast to her face?
She might have become disempoweree when Ch’thier got nommed, however.
Geez, Fatinah! Get some lessons on the effective use of a stone from Clover, will ya?
(Yeah, yeah, I know—Clover’s an assassin and Fatinah’s a rogue, but still she should have been able to do better with sneak attack damage, don’tcha think?)
Kur doesn’t care what they are doing, he’s just not going t let them take away _his_ power
Wellโฆ Fatinah tried.
KICK HIM IN THE NARDS!
"Whoa…Kurassa’s got nards!"

Uh, Rich? Is that legit? Considering that there’s a direct link to paypal on this website I’d recommend not visiting the patreon linked above, until Rich himself confirms that he created it. Smells fishy to me.
To clarify, I’m just generally wary about patreon links posted by users who aren’t the owner of the patreon. If I’m wrong I mean no offense.
Hi Wylf, Rich posted that Patreon link on yesterday’s comic (3379) so I think it’s official!
Sorry, could have made it cleared ๐ I do no post at all, but I have been around for a while (2008ish?), and I am just immensely happy we can donate as simply as through patreon
It is on the up-and-up, Rich hasn’t gotten around to posting the link in every comic like he did here. He’s still working on how to integrate the link into the template since it’s relatively new.

(Full disclosure, I am supporting Rich myself)
Yeah, Wylf, they’re right. It’s legit. And like Fnordius said, I haven’t got a permalink here yet because I’m not very good with tech and I haven’t figured it out yet. And a lot of the time I /could/ be spending scouring the internet on ‘how to put a Patrion link in your site’ instructions I’m spending on making content. But sooner or later I hope to have a proper whatsit up there.
Makes perfect sense to me. Just figured it’s better to be safe than sorry. Thanks for clarifying!
Anytime! ๐
Panel 3: is Kurassa even on a side, -including himself-, or does he just see someone doing something and try to wreck it out of pure undirected spite?
Hey, Rich!
I currently have a small subscription via the old link. Is there a benefit to you if I switch it over to the Patreon, or a horse apiece?
Whoops, this wound up under the wrong comment. Sorry!!
Hey Gette! It makes no difference to me, there’s benefits to you, though, if you want access to the Patreon gifts.
I think the only side he is on is his own, as he’s the sort of sneaky conniver that would think he could be a Ranna himself and take over the world.
How distraction can both succeed, and fail horribly, all at once.
Next time, go for the kneecaps.
Too low
Now, Now, Kiddies, playing tug of war with the arcane energies isn’t really recommended. Remember, if you break it, you bought it.
I’m suddenly reminded of Nodwick, where they were playing tug-of-war with the power nexus. "There isn’t a word for what happens if you fall in that, is there?"
He didn’t even say KAMEHAMEHA.
That’s cheating
I wonder if it’s significant that it’s Philip’s magical energy he’s stealing. Y’know, as opposed to the pool of magical energy from *before* being channeled through the various mages and clerics up there.
Like, did Fatinah just get smacked with an epic blast of Lay On Hands?
I didn’t even think of that possibility, but that would be hilarious, and in keeping with Kur’s can’t-catch-a-break brand of ineptitude. Dude pulls on a random strand of from a giant tangle of magic, and ends up trying to blast his ex-flunkie with a paladin’s healing mojo.
Someone needs to introduce that boy to the sharp end of a pointy stick. Repeatedly.
Rogue’s Uncanny Dodge FTW!
A tenacious but futile effort.
Ouch. Panel Two.
Hey, Rich, you know how sometimes you appreciate me calling you out?
"I feel that pull on the Arcane energies!" wins some kind of Exposition award.
Totally been there myself. Not sure how else it could have been done. (Maybe with a colour? Not an available option, alas.)
t!
I don’t see anything wrong with that panel being how it is, except maybe change the wording a bit?
"I feel a pull on the Arcane energies!" or even "I felt that pull on the Arcane energies!"
Then again, people don’t speak perfect grammar in real life, and that’s people who actually *learnt* about it
A little cludgey you think?
I don’t find the existing version out of character for Kurassa, but if you wanted a punchier version…in panel 2, something like "Those curs! Do they think I don’t feel that?" would probably say all that needs to be said. Panel 1 has already made it clear *what* Kurassa is feeling.
For panel 3, maybe "They won’t take what’s mine!" — with or without the admission that he actually has no idea what they’re trying to do — would be enough to drive home Kurassa’s selfishness. Whatever else might be happening, he’s a toddler who is losing a toy, and he’s gonna take it back!
"Hey! Leggo my Magic-go!"
Yeah, change "… have what you need." to "… take what’s mine!" in panel three works to show he is both selfish, and still show he has no idea what is happening (and probably still not care)
Now *this* is interesting. Because I thought the key point of the exposition in that panel was to underline that they’re arcane!
t!
> A little cludgey you think?
A bit, yeah. Sorry for how brief these are – I’m writing them in a short time window – but I think, if I were to break it down, I’d have to conclude it has one too many details: that he can feel the energies, and that they’re arcane.
t!
Kurassa, you need to remember Rule 22 of the Evil Overlord List
"No matter how tempted I am with the prospect of unlimited power, I will not consume any energy field bigger than my head."
Every time I look at panel 6, the bird seems to have a Mona Lisa smile going on.
Has *nothing* to do with the story at large, I just can’t unsee it.
Kurassa–he’s certainly living up to the mid/latter portion of his name right now. Jerk.
Yes, can see that non-smile as well
And also yes, Kurassa is both a cur *and* and ass
