Tch, considering how often you online comic makers lie? Even the title isn’t enough to end speculation.
I am looking pointedly at another comic for basically saying that ‘the main cast won’t die’ and then killing the most beloved character of the main cast- via suicide no less.
I don’t *think* I’ve ever lied. I definitely have been vague or refused to answer things in the past. Even perhaps said misleading things to not spoil my stories, but I’ve never out and out lied.
Not yours, I’m just being… extremely facetious about how ‘serious’ it is. I know you haven’t lied- you’ve literally never said in the years I’m following that ‘the main cast won’t die’.
actually. if there’s one thing. Dead characters have STAYED dead. despite the fact that, Following D&D rules and typical fantasy tropes, resurrection magic existing.
we’ve seen characters cheat death by becoming Undead (of multiple types even!) but NEVER raised.
once Dead (tho you have to wonder if Glon was Dead-Dead or simply Dormant and soulless while they addressed if he was more orcish or human) but the Baron (and all the previous Barons) got to become Haunts.
so no, i dont think we’ll see Arachne ‘alive’ again, per se’ (and im not ruling out that it was Arachne who made sure Ranna got sent into the void)
Agreed. And with Arachne confirmed dead (I was wondering about that myself) it is time to brace for the full list of the fallen. Even a victorious Army must count it’s casualties, and i have a feeling that healing will be more difficult now.
This could be painful…
On the other hand, Dewcup actually has a Character Arc now. I always assumed her’s would be pretty much a flatline, but now…. hmmm.
Looking ahead, I suspect this is just the forst of many examples of interesting things that our favs will be going through.
The Days of Glory are over, for now.
The really hard stuff comes next.
Well, it really depends on whether the soul-killer properties of the knife would only work on Ranna/another god in physical form, or if they worked just fine, and Arachne is no more, even in spirit. If her soul was not destroyed (a big if, I know), she KNEW how dangerous the afterlife was, and died warning of that. So if she died, but her soul did not, she would have done her best to NOT end up in the afterlife. She could well be in that dagger that killed her. I suppose we won’t know for sure until something (preferably humanoid) living is killed with it. It is a reach, I know, but the only chance I can think of. I could certainly see Drowcup stabbing anything with it that annoyed her even slightly at this point, such as perhaps one of the pile of mistresses that wakes up cranky and makes one wrong move? Only time will tell.
There was nothing special about the dagger itself, it was the poison *on* it that was special, supposedly to trap the soul within the body so that Ranna couldn’t jump out (which she did when Drowcup chocked out Liz)
"Spider-Knife, Spider Knife;
Coming out to end a life.
From its sheath, it’s been freed,
No some poor fool’s gonna bleed.
Watch Out!
Here comes the Spider-Knife!"
Sorry. I couldn’t resist. I tried . I really did. But the DC was like 18 and my willpower is crap.
I had totally forgotten that green and Bob didn’t know about Arachne. My heart breaks for them and her all over again. I hope she can now find peace- or at least not ranna
The serum (not specifically a "poison") on the knife was to "bind the soul to the body" so when the drow body Ranna was inhabiting died, she couldn’t return to her own body again. How that would have effected Arachne’s soul, though, might still be an open question. And the identity of "?" and how Ranna somehow unknowingly created her is yet to be reveled.
Ben Beholder’s glasses. Once they get bent like that, you’ll never get them back the way they were. They’re not coming back. He’ll definitely have to get new ones.
I guess the title should end the speculation about her possible resurrection.
Why – it could just as easily be the person yanked from reality forever, Ranna, not coming back?
Or maybe that wasn’t supposed to be a dagger, but a boomerang instead.
Your shifting the blame a bit there Dewcup.

So, I do apologize if I do not believe you.
A little harsh, Charon.
Didn’t the author of that other comic say they couldn’t say “Actually, I never said that” until it happened?
Pretty much, went back and deleted the posts to back up what was said too.
What webcomic is that?
Don’t mind me, you already said that in another post…

The comic was Stand Still, Stay Silent.

I don’t think Ranna can come back, because her mind has been removed from this reality, meaning she doesn’t even have a spiritual route to return.
Agreed. And with Arachne confirmed dead (I was wondering about that myself) it is time to brace for the full list of the fallen. Even a victorious Army must count it’s casualties, and i have a feeling that healing will be more difficult now.

literally me tbh
Flicking that very special god-killer (or at least improsoner, can’t recall) knife into the ground like that… can’t be good.
Or… it could be *very* good
Yeah, knife vs. dirt and stones is very hard on the knife. Hmm, I haven’t seen that specific strength test on Forged in Fire yet.
Did Jone survive?
Last seen… chasing the true King of Elegrost, Capt. Fang
Hm, okay. Gonna set my hopes on that ominous knife and Dewcup’s determined crush now.
and riches great ability for unexpected twists

In that case… Nope, have no idea what that would have possibly done to a normal soul in their original body. *shrugs* Only time will tell.
Well that’s either very on the nose or ironically missing the nose! We will see!
Is… that a giant hand between Drowcup’s legs in panel four?
Nope, just the hand and arm of a fallen soldier, but without enough context to determine which side that person had been on.
No – it’s the arse end of a fallen tree. 😀
Well, It will be the first weapon who retain the soul of anyone before he comes back
I could ‘hear’ fwip fwip fwip 😉
Okay… I gotta say it:
"Spider-Knife, Spider Knife;
Coming out to end a life.
From its sheath, it’s been freed,
No some poor fool’s gonna bleed.
Watch Out!
Here comes the Spider-Knife!"

Ty for failing your save 😀 I sung that lol
I had totally forgotten that green and Bob didn’t know about Arachne. My heart breaks for them and her all over again. I hope she can now find peace- or at least not ranna
that earned you cookies, and a glass of milk!
Don’t apologize for that. It’s the thing I wish I’ve done after I read it. 😉
Ermm…second verse?
"In the chill of night,
At the scene of a crime.
Like a streak of light,
It arrives–in your spine!"

Still have hopes about ?
Ben called Gren ‘dear’.
I tingle with delight.
t!
The times, they are indeed a-changin’. 🙂
Maybe a massive war and the destruction of their lifelong home gave them a sense of perspective and priorities, eh?
t!
Heheh…. perspective.
Even the Beholders are sad to hear about Arachne 🙁
It’s very clear what the title is a reference to.

Oh, my, yes.
There speaks someone who knows.
