Well, I mean, it’s not irreducibly random on a *quantum* level. A physical chain of cause and effect did bring him there.
Pseudo-random ogre.
Also, I really like the almost-comfortable hubbub of species that, a generation ago, would have been at each other’s throats. And the elf/pointy-eared-fae-of-some-sort in the background helping an injured hobgoblin to his feet. The future might not be an entirely dark place (but ask me again in 48 real-life hours…)
No sir, not an Oni. Just a smaller kind of Ogre with horns. I like varying things up. I’m leaning more and more towards creating and altering things more creatively and away from the influence of the Monster Manuals.
Seriously, mucat. Your observations make this comments area particularly awesome, and heavens, but you’ve stepped up lately. Between you, t!, T-Chall, and Fang FanGirl…I spend a lot of time with hands folded, smiling, knowing that nearly every point I would have made, one or more of you will have already made.
You are awesome. Thank you for being a part of the YAFGC reading experience!
Thank you all; this is a wonderful community, and I always look forward to every new post from each one of you.
(Especially on this specific night, when I badly need a distraction from obsessively reloading fivethirtyeight.com every ten seconds. Note to all our future selves: SHIT, does this look like a nail biter right now.)
And damn it, now my brain won’t give me any peace until I go play that whole rant, to make sure there are no everyday expressions I’ve left unruined. 🙂
"By and large, language is a tool for concealing the truth."
"If crime fighters fight crime, and firefighters fight fires, what do freedom fighters fight?"
And there’s also a reason why Congress begins with the prefix "con." It’s what defines the difference between Congress & progress.
As far as I’ve seen, the "con" in Congress also implies "confidence game" or "scam."
"The gods you are attempting to reach are not in service. Please leave a message clearly stating the target of your request, the cause for damnation, and any sacrifice you wish to pledge to bolster your case. Once gods are operating at full capacity, damnation requests will be handled strictly in the order received, in the case of Lawful deities, or as whim dictates, if Chaotic."
I do fear that, at the moment, the "call center" for clerics and the faithful…is ringing out to a message that the voicemail you have reached is full. What surviving deities there may or may not be…are, at *very* least, no longer at their desks, or on other calls at the moment…
Especially after all the spirited discussion of precisely which error code magic threw Lewstrom a few strips back. It’s nice to see an old classic like 404 get some love too. 🙂
Weird. When I look at related comics, 3338 isn’t referenced, and every time I refresh the current one, the related comics list changes. I never noticed that before.
I LOVE this comic. I hope this isn’t the closing times for it.
Last Saturday, you posted a comment on another webcomic I read and said you write this.
I started reading this and even commented on that other comic about it (I wonder if you know which one I’m speaking of).
As I said, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and hope it continues.
I remember! And I’m very pleased to have been following your commentary as you blitzed the YAFGC archives. Thank you so much. I have no plans to /end/ YAFGC any time soon, though it is about to go through a bit of an overhaul. I’m winding down these stories to start a new era. All these old familiar characters will still be in it and feature prominently, but I’ll also be focusing a bit more on some new, younger ones.
"blitzed"?
—shruggs—
I guess it would be considered that.
I just read it as I read anything, tho a lot of people have told me I am a reading maniac.
I am so happy you plan to continue this comic.
i am happy to include it in my list of daily reading (#35 webcomic)
Okay, guess that’s just a random ogre

Couldn’t remember the name of any ogres we had met so far when I made that comment, so couldn’t ask if it was him (or her)
Previously named Ogres were Og and Ug who lived just outside the Weepwood Forest and Nin who was a guard in Umbril. Though he is a different species.
Nin is an oni, isn’t he?

Can we be honest, here? ANY creativity would be more than the Monster Manuals.

Mucat, I love you so much.
Awww. We all love you too, Rich. Best wishes to you and yours in what may be crazy times!

Mucat, I agree with Rich and Rancourt, wholeheartedly. It’s great having you here.
Me, four!

If you want to find them, talk to everyone you meet, describe to them who you are looking for, eventually someone will know and relay the message
I think Carlin would call that one a Near *Hit*.
t!
Heheh… he would indeed. That monologue actually ran through my head while I was titling this one as well.
Impossible not to.
He ruined *so many* everyday expressions with that one bit.
God bless ‘im.

Is this also him?
If train station is the place where train stops, what is the workstation?
Why do we park in driveways and drive in parkways?
> Why do we park in driveways and drive in parkways?
I first heard that one from Gallagher.

Come clean, Rich: Was this planned to be the next strip, or did it arise from discussion on the last one?
t!
This was drawn on the same day as the last one, so nope. This was planned.
Well, then, you rock even more than heretofore believed.
Somehow.
t!
Gods damn it. XD

I’m thinking back to the recent Watchmen series, and the phone-booths to Mars.
“Gods not found?! What in the 404 hells is this?!”
Awesome!

Okay, this is simply beautiful.
Weird. When I look at related comics, 3338 isn’t referenced, and every time I refresh the current one, the related comics list changes. I never noticed that before.
Well, it’s a big battlefield. Hard to find single person there …
*Clank*. A charming little detail.
I’m amazed nobody mentioned that earlier!!!

It feels so far but actually it’s much closer than she thinks.
