Well, to be fair, she isn’t really demonic, just half-orc, undead, and driven mad by various factors. She would not make a good ‘heir’ though, for Shalmar, or the Fox. Though it would be nice to see him try to help her, if anything can be done.
She has a point, the Fox costume would hide her demonic heritage very well, and if she was ruling Shalmar because she was his daughter, perhaps it is time he do some of the more boring work and rule for himself for a while. He seems very long lived, I wonder if he is half-elven, or the like?
Heh, it would be very funny if it turned out Flannet Hunter had yet another child somewhere that was sired by The Fox. (On that note, Flannet Hunter and a lot of others need their entries put in (beyond name only) and/or updated on the Cast Page, if you ever get the time.
Everyone has an entry on the list. It’s automatically added when I put the cast names in the strip uploads. It might not have a description, but their names and the strips they appear in are all there.
Right, that is why I said ‘beyond name only’. 🙂 As in, the description added. Sorry, I should have worded that better. I mean, not everyone is necessary, certainly, but characters that have become fairly important, like Flannet, it would be nice. I can see how that would be a major time sink though, and I would rather have more of the story, if it is a choice between the two. Too bad fans can’t add and update those descriptions for you, though I can see that leading to chaos if everyone could edit it. Perhaps if you have one or two trusted people who could help you with that? (No, I didn’t mean me, you don’t know me that well.) I just meant that I am sure people would volunteer to help, if you wanted that. Just ignore me if that doesn’t sound as reasonable as it sounded in my head. *dry chuckle*
No, no, cast pages are better done by passion than duty. Don’t get some unpaid interns to do it, get some unpaid superfans to do it, they’ll love the task for itself and find it neither boring nor repetitive as they keep at it for hours on end.
he does have a daughter, unfortunately she’s currently an undead demon. maybe Jone would mellow out a bit if she had a strong father figure in her life.
The "whole Fox gig" never really depended on people giving a consistent description of the Fox, though. Shawn (and presumably others before him) used the Fox identity to amuse himself and sow a bit of confusion, not to convince people of some specific narrative.
If in the future, people disagree on whether the Fox is a man or a woman, or suspect that there might be multiple Foxes or a succession of them, or a shapechanger or just a tall tale…then all is functioning as intended!
…though on second reading, I make it sound like Shawn’s whole record as a costumed hero is done for a lark, which isn’t true.
The things he does as the Fox are important and necessary. Doing them *as the Fox*, rather than as a purely anonymous figure in the shadows, is the bit that I see as mainly for his own amusement. He and Anna would be no less effective if wildly contradictory rumors were floating around about who the Fox really is. (As long as the rumors don’t get too accurate, and threaten their day jobs, or those of future wearers of the costume.)
I have not done any stories or strips with a Kitsune character. I have had a couple of Foxwomen lycanthrope characters, an actual fox, a pooka who looks like an anthopomorphic fox and a guy dressed up in a black fox suit and calls himself the Fox. But no Kitsunes, nope. It’s something to consider for the future, though.
So "The Fox" is a hereditary title, like how "The Phantom" is 21st of his line, unbroken father to son since the 16th Century….
I like it.
Or perhaps it’s like Dread Pirate Roberts?
That was my thought exactly!
It can be both – with it USUALLY going from father to son but not always.
It just occurred to me; he doesn’t know that he has a second demonic daughter running around somewhere chasing Capt. Fang, does he?
Does he? 🙂

they need some daddy daughter bonding time, maybe they can go fishing.

Well, ONE of them has to have children, so…
t!

I don’t think we’ll see Jone or Fang again.
They ‘fought’ all the way to a deserted island, they had a 90-minute RomCom, and at the end of it they built a grass hut and settled down together.
t!
I’m just glad they’re happy.
Unless she disguises herself as a male, the whole Fox gig would be up
Maybe, instead, she could become the Vixen, and start and alternate line

That was why I suggested a rival competing ‘brand’, like Bat(wo)man and Robin(s)
Okay, not ‘rival competing’, that’s wrong, *complimentary* sounds right
Kitsune = female fox demon. Works for me.
Didn’t one already appear sometime in the past?

Wait, he’s not ready to retire? Or her take his place? Or both?
I sense a new plot in the making!
Hmmm….this development certainly fits in with Rich’s musings about where he’s planning to take the strip with more swashbuckling and such.
And, as usual, it’s very funny.
Wait a minute. Didn’t The Fox have a fox companion or am I misremembering?
Are you thinking maybe of Cadugan’s fox?
I totally agree that Anna would make a great Fox/Vixen.
Actually they should team up and really confuse folks.
