Don’t believe those are nicknames, more simply they just never really learnt how to say her name properly (specially with Adina: they had only just met, and Vachi does have an unusual name)
those aren’t demons, they’re just fireball throwing bat people with pointy horns, quit being so racist. now go apologise to Blood Drinker and Destroyer of Souls, they are very sensitive.
They officially are demons:

There is people that hate when the part past the climax of the story is long, but I love that there are so many characters and to see how this war affected every one of them or how they will face the new world ahead. This show that the recent events had an impact in ALL the world as almost every character alive has participated or has been affected.
For me the perfect point is to have a farewell about the duration of the climax/final battle for almost every arc.
Presumably the Captain had an off-panel conversation with Adina and Vachiritei. Kind of sad that they couldn’t come say goodbye to the crew, but I can understand Adina being afraid to leave her mom alone right now.
(And Safana could bring the crew to say goodbye to *them*, but that would be admitting that Safana has a heart, which might lead to DANCING!)
So how do we think the royal family is getting back to Umbril? I wouldn’t be surprised if Adina & Co. are all waiting for the crew at the dock. "Why are you looking at me like that, Captain? I said I needed to get my mom and everyone back to Umbril, and you *said* it was ok…."
Found it: strip 3396. Adina and Vachiritei agree they have to get Vanessa back to Umbril to recover from the shock of losing her connection with Ch’Thier.
Yeah, Richard’s got a really good sense of what’s dull and/or unnecessary, in that he seems to just instinctively *not* show it.
Because what really would be the point of the scene where they tell the captain they’re not coming with? (unless there’s a gag or some sentiment in it) We know they’re not, and if we didn’t she just said it again. We can infer it happened, so we don’t need to see it.
The moment I realized Rich is a freakin’ master at this kind of judgment call — and how rare a thing it *is* for writers to master — was when Urzal and Charla had their big "I’m going to save the world and you can’t stop me" confrontation.
We saw Urzal standing resolutely outside their house, and we all knew what they were about to say. Hell, we robably could have written their dialogue at that point, and been pretty dead-on…but clearly, it was a discussion they had to have.
So Rich just *skipped it*, and in the next scene, they had reached the inevitable truce, and Charla was helping to outfit Urzal with her old adventuring gear. And nothing of value was lost; it still *felt* like we had seen their whole argument, Charla had done her duty as a good mother, and Urzal was leaving anyway, as she must.
It was a brilliant narrative move, and an obvious one in retrospect, but I never would have thought of doing it that way. And if certain big-name novelists could learn that trick at Rich’s feet, their novel series might actually get *finished*.
…edit again: and rereading the comments from the strip just *after* that one, I realize that the reason I noticed Rich’s excellent bit of storytelling artistry there, is that t! had pointed it out in the comments. So gratitude to t! for first calling attention to this!
With characteristic humility, Richard thought of it as "lazy," but… I know a lot of writers, and when they lament that today they have to write the Boring Exposition, I always ask them, "If you don’t want to write it, why will anyone want to *read* it?"
Expositions may be boring to write or read, but they allow the readers to know what is going on, specially if it deals with something that happened ‘off panel’
Some times you can leave it out and simply have it implied, some times you just have to find the right moment to ‘info dump’
I trust Rich to know the right time for both, and he hasn’t let me down in that regards so far
It’s BK’s birthday tomorrow.
*consults the time zone charts and clocks* I have just enough time!! One super deluxe mega birthday cake supreme coming up. Oh I hope my ovens can handle this…
At least their boat is still in the water.
Quick linguistic heads-up, Rich — Vachiritei has picked up another nickname!
(On top of that one Adina gave her way back when, that ended in ‘orx’.)
Don’t believe those are nicknames, more simply they just never really learnt how to say her name properly (specially with Adina: they had only just met, and Vachi does have an unusual name)
Sad Eeshie looks like a goat (not in a bad way)
you know you’ve got high charisma score if literal demons are sad when you leave.
I don’t think these are THAT kind of demons.
Which kind — literal demons?
"We’re totally not. Here, watch me speak in poetic figures of speech. I can even use hyperbole!"
What kind of demon do you believe they are, if not THAT kind?
Betty Hutton’s kind, of course!

Parting is such sweet sorrow
Well, Adina was travel with them in search for her father’s cure.
But they were a very valuable member of the crew, even searching news troubles and finding new solutions, more been total and absolutely loyalty.
Hey, i had reading the strip again and see something.
Adina and Veri hadn’t say nothing.
Is the captain assuming what happens with them now?
Presumably the Captain had an off-panel conversation with Adina and Vachiritei. Kind of sad that they couldn’t come say goodbye to the crew, but I can understand Adina being afraid to leave her mom alone right now.

And then, as Mucat says in his post I couldn’t see when I was doing my one, it appears they went and told her off-panel.
