Just waiting for someone to point out that “all” has two “l”s in it. For the record, I know. I only noticed the error after I posted the strip. My keys tend to stick on the double letters. I’ll try to find time to fix it later today.

All monarchies need a rite of exception.
There is one. It’s called bigger army diplomacy.
And if you are from an asian country, if you kick the other monarch’s ass, it means you are divinely mandated to rule.
Same with Romans and Byzantines.
Phocas, Heraclitus, and Basil I got their position through this.
In panel 2, the past tense of "lead" is "led"
Dammit so it is. My schooling let me down. I had to look that up a few times before replying to make sure you were right about that in all cases. I thought it was an American/British spelling issue but it seems that my Canadian/Partial French Immersion elementary school has once again left me with superfluous letters that plague my writing.
If it helps, Rich, my beloved always spells "resources" with an additional S…
t!
In the middle or the end?
That would be "resouses"
With an extra "r" 😀
With me it’s the word license… Usually liscence or whatever variation. Oddly, my spelling was much better begore i taught 7th graders. My typing otoh… Only class i failed …at 3 words a minute. Besides, spelling has nothing to do with intelligence, just with memorization
I know, right? Liscesncse is the most evil word!
When it comes to typing, i really had trouble getting faster than about 30 wpm (words per minute). After that point, I would rate my typing speed in mpm (mistakes per minute).
Poor Charlie is going to be sad 🙁
Sanity prevails
At least Olga has the respect of the people, unlike the friendly-fire magnet over there.
Wait, does that mean Ator didn’t make it?
Wise, very wise
On the other hand Gor have and important and very essential job https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIyJkovDe1w (sorry, i don’t have in english)
If C’rhynne’s in earshot, she’s joining that butt-kicking line. 😀
Joel: “How much Keefe is in this comic?”
Tom Servo: “Miles O’Keefe!”
MST3K references get double chocolate chip cookies
All I can think of now is a mass market beer with a knight on the label…

My school had a bunch of the Gor books (I have no idea what they were thinking). I rather liked them until I went through puberty and figured out what they were about.
I recall from my long-ago teenage years that I thought the first three were passable sword-and-planet even if not my kink, the next three were on a decline, then the author snapped like a twig sometime in book seven.
Haven’t read them in decades, but I recall having to leaf through pages of that nonsense to get back to the main story which was usually pretty decent.
Realpolitik at its best.
I totally heard Lotharia claim Olga as her long-lost half-sister at the end. Didn’t you?
(Or in a pinch, King Cap’n Fang is always available for side gigs!)
Harold Godwinson became King of England because he was able to hear King Edward the Confessor name him as his heir with his dying whisper, so why shouldn’t Queen Olga’s claim to the throne be just as good? And SHE has a witness to back her up!
Tradition can take a long walk off a short pier.
Meritocracy, baby!
"God was a dream of good government."
t!
I used to repeat the adage that "Tradition was a mistake that has been repeated for more than one generation."
I am curious about Gor. Is that kind of content that almost everyone agree to be bad, and I am tempted to see why and how it goes wrong. In other hand I could use my time reading actualy good novels like diskworld.
Discworld and Gor should not be mentioned in the same breath. In fact, ideally they should not even co-exist in the same universe.
Please don’t bother. The Gor novels are very patriarchal, misogynist stories that are popular with a small group of BDSM fetishists who cosplay it. It isn’t well written, and is popular mainly because it is macho erotica.
So, it’s the "Fifty Shades" of the Swords & Sandals genre?
Here’s a parody that I’ve been told is fairly accurate. "Enjoy."
Thanks for the advice! And with that parody of the plant I make a idea of how it is. The style sounds distantly familiar to me, maybe I have read some parody not knowing it was parody.
For can’t be king, he’s not wearing a headband!
Gor. You stupid autocorrect! Gor!
You are hardly the first to get snagged by the latest versions of auto-incorrect.
Wasn’t there also a movie made about Gor?
There is a WHOLE book series.
Can vaguely remember a _movie_, never read the books, but could be getting confused with any number of ‘Sword & Sandal’ movies from the 80’s
"Fencer of Minerva" is often mentioned as an anime clone of the series, even down to playing the Gorean variant of chess.
There were two Gor movies. They both suck. They were riffed on MST3K, which is the only way to enjoy them in my opinion.
I might be able to bring myself to watch the MST3K version. There’s not much in this world as richly deserving of mockery as Gor.
That a challenge? To name something(s) more deserving?
Challenge… declined
that’s two more gor movies than were needed
Did Tawnia grow her hair out? Trying to figure out which Daughter she is, the tall blonde looks like Meridia the Impatient
Unless Tawnia was always the half-orc who never spoke previously
Looking at both this and the earlier strips that tag Tawnia the Not So Meek, I’m gonna guess the name belongs to the short-haired half-orc who was sitting next to the dark-skinned elf woman at the meeting with Adwen. (And that she’s the one who objects to missing her turn here.)
Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking as well
I like to think that Gor didn’t get that blackeye and cut from the battle, but from an entirely unrelated misogyny induced beatdown beforehand.
Neither he nor this group of Daughters were ever part of the main battle, they had their own little ‘party’ behind the bushes
The ultimate succession law of monarchies: If Nobody Does What You Say, You’re Not the King/Queen.
A little bit too on the nose? LOL
A well-deserved thrashing though… Goreans give BDSM a bad rep.
"al" isn’t a typo, it’s just how he now (mis-)pronounces it after having his teeth forcibly rearranged.
I have never destroyed a book, but I was more tempted than I’d ever been when I tried to read a Gor novel.
You’re a better rabbit than I. I literally tore the one somebody gave me apart and burned the pieces.
"I wish you well," said the spider plant…
"I’m’a fill this jerk’s ass with thorns," said the cactus.
I am absolutely *delighted* that you caught the reference.
You know that if anyone would, it would be our beloved mucat!
The difference Rich is between knowing too much about the ‘novels’ and taking them seriously
Hey, the series that would have driven me sick would have been "GROO, the wanderer".
Somehow, Gor doesn’t quite compare.
What is wrong with Groo?
For a start, Groo was *intended* as an idiot Conan, and not to be taken seriously, along the same lines as "Spy vs. Spy" or the entire MAD and Cracked magazines (before they got dumbed down)
Nice shot at the Gor books. I have most of them. In my defense, I got into them when I was an early teen and was mostly into the barbarian hack and slash stuff. The first ones were ok, then they went very quickly downhill, I tried to reread them later but couldn’t stomach the slave bullshit. If anyone wants a good sword and sorcery alternative, I would suggest the Dray Prescot books, aka the Scorpio series.
It's sad that Lotharia and Charlotte never got to work out.
