CAPTAIN FANG HAS A NEW ADVENTURE!
A certain awesome young programmer named “Litterbox42” has programmed a game in connection with YAFGC!
Go now and play:
A Pickled Herring on Rye
….then tell the author what you thought of it! We’ll be waiting to hear from you!
-Rich “BK” Morris
Happy New Year!
And yay for adventuring Urzal!
Spending a summer with her aunt Clover, the Queen, might give her a good start, as well as some safety from problems a naive young half-orc might otherwise be facing.
And maybe some partner to meet the world.
Perhaps someone like a sibling like a cousin who can’t fight in the last war and have aventurous blood for mother blood line.
PD: Urzal isn’t related with his mom, is it? Because Charla is her mother. I fight violently who the damned and dumbest who said the opposite
Charla never had children of her own. She’s got a pile of adopted kids. Including some Halflings, Humans and one Half-Orc. But she is DEFINITELY their mom.
Is there a reason she never had kids of her own? Or is it simply she never met ‘The One’ but wanted kids anyway?
Charla did meet The One. Problem was, "One WHAT?"
The one that drove a wedge between the sisters? Didn’t think he counted (or *could* count 😛 )
Unless he *is* the reason she never married, he hurt her too much
Happy New Yeae, yay for understanding parents <3
Not only does momma know what ails, she also knows the remedy 😀
I wonder if the whole younger generation from Silverydale will join Urzal on her road trip and make some good trouble out there?
"We would have gotten away with it, if not for those meddling hobbits. Including the anomalously tall one."
(And happy year-that’s-not-20godsdamned20-anymore, everyone!)
Don’t forget their extra-large, easily frightened wargi, Scooby-Rowwr!
Damn the onion cutting ninjas!
this is so heartwarming..
I love your comic. You have so many awesome Halfling and Halfling-adjacent characters.
It was "The Hobbit" that got me into the fantasy genre when I was about 11 or so. So I’ve always loved Hobbits, Halflings and the wee-folk above all. That and they reminded me of my family in England who were not only a bit wee themselves, but very homey and …. Hobbittish. I’ve got a special place in my heart for them.
I really have enjoyed every strip, but the Clover Firelight saga made me a fanatic!
Thank you! I’m glad. I felt really bad about Clover’s life before I got to her rescue by Eric, but it had to be really crappy to contrast with the really awesome she obtains. 🙂
Y’know, it’s funny…I STILL think of Clover as someone with agonizingly terrible luck which only just recently turned around. Only checking the archives, her pre-Drostardy days comprise less than a sixth of the comic’s run (and in real time, her final rescue from Arachne was over 13 years ago.)
You did a great job of helping readers empathize with the character, for the pain to still feel fresh after so long!
It paid off 100%
PS: You did a drawing of an all-female, all Halfling party on FaceBook because of a prompt I submitted.
I show that picture to everybody!
Oh yeah! I love that picture.
I want to find a way to use those characters sometime. They need their own story.
I’m going to be doing something similar-ish in an upcoming YAFGC story there’s a trio of woman warriors working for King Runtherd. I think you’ll enjoy them.
I cannot wait!
PS: I also want to mention how much I love Maula Bloodhand, too.
Probability be damned, I wanna see them meet again!
Will it work out? Will it flop? Will they become at least friends? Np idea! But the potential is huge, and they deserve the chance :p
… I was just thinking "Oh, yeah, she’s going out, he will be finding her home, they miss themselves" … but, well, as mentioned on last page discussion, him finding her here wouldn’t be that likely to start with, so maybe?
Happy New Year!
During her adventures, she comes into a town near the god-damning battleground. There she sees a poster with an idealized picture of her face on it and words she does not recognize, as it is written in a language she does not recognize (Orcish or some Dragonian language).
Charla, you are a terrific and understanding mom!
It makes me wonder whether Charla has brought her adopted kids to visit her sister before. I could see visiting the Drostardy court as a nice soft start to travel and adventure. Otherwise, Glon is fairly widely known now and if Urzal wants to find out more about her heritage, I could see her making a visit to Glon’s court. I don’t think we have seen if she has any bard training or talent, but if she does, she might find a position there, and would likely be welcome in any case. And the ‘friend’ she is looking for might well start looking for her there, having not found her on the battlefield.
Rich 1 of these days you must show us the family trees of your characters.
Which character specifically? Or do you mean all of them?
Everyone related to Glon, Clover & Cadugan.
Wait, isn’t that everyone, in some way? Including King Captain Fang
Or did you mean *how* they are related?
Oh, I cannot wait to see how her adventures play(ed) out!
t!
Here I am, going through the archives for some reason, and I keep looking at the author’s note and cracking up.
EAT CRAP 2022!!
