So whatever is anomalous about that room — secret passages, midnight skulduggery, mirror sorcerers, or gambit pileups — the Kingswords now have front-row seats to the action. (And if the horses are up to anything, their plots won’t escape Carruthers’ keen ears.)
I just want to give a shout out to Rich for taking the time to make sure all characters and props are properly blocked in every "camera shot". Go look at the previous strip, and this one, and you can see the attention to detail that goes into this.
Give the man a sword, because he really stuck the landing.
That business with the mirror reflections last strip was unbelievable. Just great.
And he wrote me over the weekend, while illustrating these strips, to tell me (fairly) that they’re insanely wordy. (He said it nicer than that.) In fact he cut some of the words. It was absolutely the right call.
With all the astonishing dynamics he’s presented in the last two strips, you’d never guess everyone was trying to dodge around the word balloons.
I’m still loving the mystery π It’s no easy feat to keep introducing new characters in this cast of thousands and they’re still interesting and you want to see more of them.
I’m not sure but I think no one has pointed yet, that the numbering broke – we’re 60 off since the last strip – it should be 3498

If the Kingswords move into this room, they will become………unstable!
Damn.
Wish I’d thought of that at the time.
t!
I love this guy.
I will be very sad when we discovers he was the evil mind after this malevious plan
Hey, comments are enabled now!
Nice of Cadugan to enquire about where Carruther is lodged if she didn’t get a guest room. Also nice of the Kingswords to decline.
Now for one of them to invite Carruther…
I remember pulling this trick on my mother many times as a kid. Ahhh, good ol’ days… π

I am SO GLAD you mentioned that.

Ah, so thatβs what was bothering me about the numbering!
Thanks for the catch with the numbers! Fixed it. π
