I’m all in Mrs. Bloodhand’s camp, but c’mon Cadugan, don’t believe in coincidences, ala many forms of fictions, and especially don’t believe in ABSURD coincidences. I mean, a harpsichord, really?
One allowable twist I can where the harpsichord can allowably be a coincidence. If it’s a distraction from true machinations.
Proof positive that the script was not written by our friendly neighbourhood Beholder King, since he has stated in the past that he has not seen the series.
If I were forced at gunpoint to choose B5 or GoT it wouldn’t even be a contest. I’d suffer through B5.
For the record, I have seen the first season of B5. I watched it early on when my friends were videotaping it. I got a little overwhelmed because it’s the first show I binged and after about 10 episodes or so I was pretty fed up with it. I planned to take a break and get back to it, but the opportunity passed and so did my curiosity.
Apathy got replaced with annoyance when so many people kept insisting that I absolutely HAD to watch and ENJOY it and quoted lines from episodes. I just got turned off a bit. But I never hated it for its own merits.
As for GoT: mild curiosity very quickly got replaced with a rather enthusiastic NON-interest when I started hearing about what the show was like, what the novels were like, and what George RR Martin was like.
I can see how Cadugan is being logical here…To iterate a famous fictional detective, one must consider ALL possibilities, even if it’s just to eliminate them. When all but one possibility is eliminated then the last one, no matter how improbable, must be the correct one.
Murder, accident, suicide, are all possibilities but they will still have to examine clues & question witnesses & suspects in order to decide what other possibilities must be considered.
but she could remove her skin, I bet they’d be into that, though I doubt healing magic would be as easy to come by these days so she might not be able to grow it back.
"I’m Lucas GreyFridayfort, this is my partner, Bill Cadugan. We were on the day coach to the Lifecross & Hoggs Abbey and Casino of St. Aldwin the Skilled on a 402, with a possible 7729 and a smidgen of a 21 and a half."
*gives you cookies* nice reference.
Now. where were you on the night of the incident, because allegedly the harpsicord may have been manufactured by ACME and there were reports of what looked like a pooka or a coyote fleeing the scene…
Hands you baking supplies to make more cookies, because you, T-Chall, and Sandwich all deserve some for this exchange! 😀 (i’d make them myself, but your cookies are so very appreciated 🙂 )
and some for t! and Rich for all the work we are enjoying 🙂
It wasn’t me! There was the coyote and a road runner scouting the area ahead of the gang. The harpsichord was dropped by someone dressed all in black, who had a maniacal, squeaky laugh. Oh, there was also a rabbit wearing red overalls.
Is that enough to get me some more cookies? *gives Fang FanGirl the big, sad eyes*
It does sound strange for the prize money to have continued to be donated for fifteen years while the tournament wasn't happening. And "how do you know it was murder?" is just something you're going to have to ask when you get there, if the king already knew all the details you wouldn't need to *go*, now would you?

Above, 2 cents, deposited.
Was it an ACME harpsichord?
I was just going to ask this very question
Rebozooty… Is that a bab 5 reference??? If so, much applause!!!
And i love how cadugan stumped lucas- priceless lol that is a great question!
Zooty zoot zoot zoot!
"Because it tells me to."

Well he might have watched it since then. It’s not like Babylon 5 isn’t a Bingeworthy series.
I suspect, at this point, that if you forced Rich at gunpoint to watch either B5 or GoT, his response would be, "Which one is shorter?"

Naah, I think you’re reaching.

I make a wild guess here: It wasn’t murder, it was a suicide.
Brownie points, if it really was an accident.
he wanted to reroll his character so the DM hit him with the ol’ "rocks fall" maneuver.

A dark mistress in her uniform wearing swanky lady’s clothes is exotic but weird as well.
She can’t REMOVE the "uniform". It’s permanently fused to her skin.

I’m left wondering if anyone was playing the harpsichord at the time.
Les Barker has a possibly relevant piece… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZKndy2gCf4
Last panel, is literally a visual representation of the "Mental Record Scratch" trope.
Dom da dom dom…
Dom da dom dom DOMMMMMMMMM
Nicely onomatopoeiaed!

Cookies for everyone!!
My guess will be Professor Plum in the library with a harpsichord.
Was it a mimic disguised as a harpsichord?
