3467 Just One Little Thing
Tomorrow is a big day for a good friend of mine, her new book “I Kissed A Girl” (for which you may remember, I did some fan art?) launches into the world! Check out the trailer on her website!
Jennet Alexander “I Kissed A Girl”
Neat stuff! Great book!
Get and READ!

Of course she had an altercation. The thing to notice now (for those playing at home like me) is who *didn’t* have an altercation with the victim!
Now ease up, captain, no need to get all "bad cop" just yet. You’re getting a little too aggressive, leaning in like that. I get the feeling you have already made up your mind to have Abbot Heigh be the scapegoat you can arrest.
I hope this ends up like a Poirot book with all the suspects gathered together in some fancy drawing room as the murderer is revealed! And of course it’ll be the last one you’d expect!
Or it turns out to be a teamwork, and the real question will be who was NOT involved in it. 😉 But I also do hope for such a "Poirot-ending".
Murder in the Orient Express made both cases
I think that was Azaelia Bunting.
This or the victim kill self with the help or one of the brothers.
"The murderer is right in this room. Sitting at this table.
You may serve the fish."

Yes, aka Cluedo in the UK, I think. They made a delightful movie based on the game with a wonderful cast, including Madeline Kahn, Christopher Lloyd, Michael McKean, Eileen Brennan, and Tim Curry, along with others who were terrific. Yes, as it happens, I AM a fan of the movie. How could you tell? 🙂
Maybe you may see Murder by death.
A parody of investigators with parodies of Ms Marple, Hercules Poirot, Sam Spade, Charlie Chan and Nick and Nora Charles
Another fun parody 🙂 also Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid, with Steve Martin. Gotta rewatch that one, along with the 6 Thin Man movies that T-Chall and t! mentioned that I’ve been wanting to see anyway, plus of course, rereading the original Thin Man, and the others by Hammett, which will lead me to … Lol
The nice thing about a story done in installments is that you can have various endings like the movie version of "Clue"and use whichever one you want at the end depending on how much you want to confound the guesswork of the readers 😉
Clue is my favourite movie.
t!
I still think they marketed it wrong. They should have sent the three versions out to theaters at random, kept it a complete secret, and waited for reviewers’ heads to explode.
Isn’t "Clue" that game where the murderer is the person NOT mentioned before?
For some reason, my reply migrated to somewhere above… But basically, yes.:-)
Also, didn’t t! say the drawing room was one the places in the abbey they designed first? 😉
Good idea to serve the fish…problem is, it’s buried under all these red herrings…
> didn’t t! say the drawing room was the place in the abbey they designed first?
He sure did!
The fish quote is from a mystery classic. And not the one featuring communism being a red herring.
t!
t!, were you quoting “The Thin Man” movie? That’s a great movie.
"I was waiting for somebody to make a mistake. Well, somebody has."
t!
Not you, though. You are correct!
t!
“You may serve the nuts. I mean, you can serve the guests the nuts.”
Argh–typo! That should have been "one of the places". Or to my further chagrin, "THE place". How can there be more than one first in a location?
Architectual logic errors are even worse–which of course is why I’m not an architect! 😉
Rich, I’ve got my copy of “I Kissed a Girl” on pre-order, and I’ll be getting it in a few days! I’m looking forward to reading it. I hope it will be a big hit for Jennet.
Yes thank you, T-Chall! She mentioned that and is very very grateful!
Trailer for book? Seems somehow backwards to me …
By the way, for anyone else who was curious, the fanart that Rich mentioned (starring Noa the horror movie fan, from Ms. Alexander’s new book) was posted along with strip 3443:
https://www.yafgc.net/comic/3443-the-lady-kingswords/
Will this be the 1st tiefling in the strip?
Nope. There was a very brief cameo by a Tiefling slave during Elzear’bith’s auction in "Coup d’Drow".
"Yes, but a LOT of kind people argued with Taurenil. In fact, we largely recognize them as kind people merely by the fact that they argued with her."
(With apologies to Douglas Adams.)
With such a suspect-rich environment in the Abbey, I’m becoming more and more curious why everyone blames Maula. No one (except probably the Baz) seems to fit the profile of a rabid anti-orc bigot, especially since they welcome tieflings without flinching. Did she draw suspicion by being the only one WITHOUT a grudge on Taurenil?
Pratroot was found in her nightstand, and she was competing with Taurenil, plus she lunched in her room, unlike everybody else. With the original timeframe, she was the only suspect.
At least in-world. Plot-wise, it was a efficient means of getting the king and so them Duke boys involved. And to getting our curiosity and passions aroused – and did that work well! 😀
And then there’s the OTHER mysteries: what up with Baz and his finger-wiggling reaction, and is it a mystery in itself or does it affect the murder? Inquiring minds wanna know!
Loved the adaptation of Adams btw- as usual, brilliant and funny!
OK, just finished re-reading the entire series, and it seems likely that one of the artifacts being given out as prizes belonged to the dead wood elf a long time ago, and that’s why she objected. Maybe she was trying to make a deal with the other players to give her the artifacts if they won, and because they knew she was desperate, they thought she was cheating?
Oooooooo!!! Intriguing!! Following your comments scattered along the way had me reading singlets or sometimes sections of the chapters, but no time to (once again) deep dive. Would you mind sharing what chapter at least, if not the specifics?
