Your version of normalcy may vary depending on your definition of normal; the state of normalcy resulting from the definition of normal as determined by others may drastically alter the expected outcome.
I find it plausible that he would say this, as his attention would be more focussed on making sure the tournament runs smoothly, on top of his normal job of managing a monastery. Think of the perception test where a video is shown where you have to count how often a ball is passed, and then they ask if you saw the guy in a gorilla costume walk across the screen.
After all, everyone there up to the murder Gnu too much.
I imagine the dear abbot is referring to the time twixt the arguments and the discovery of the body.
Now I myself am curious as to when the last sighting of Taurenil was as she was alive, and the estimated time of death. That is, if barbers and medical doctors actually practice knowledge of forensics, and if there was one present. There is a slim possibility in my mind that they might overlap, that an imposter might be here.
Er. You may not comment on that, t!, as you were the author. I’m just musing out loud, figuratively speaking.
Oh, this new world of YAFG is incredibly stimulating. What Rich shows us is how much thaumaturgy held back development. The explosion in fashion and in transportation are one thing. How did the medical field adapt to no longer having healing spells, or scrying to find the lodged slingshot missile? Firearms are still lagging, despite some gnomes having intricate knowledge of black powder and other explosives. Diplomacy is a lot more interesting, as we may see the division line between species (elf, human, orc, etc) start to blur as more intermarry, as political lines start to be drawn according to interests rather than what your ears or nose look like.
I absolutely love the new world. Interesting times, indeed!
Normal by (one) definition (in social science) is the average of extremes. So he isn’t wrong….
t!, I read your comment "except for the corpse" as said chorally…
Will maps be made available? And is outside the corridor meaning around the edges and not really near the room, or in the corridor around the room where the exchange took place? I can interpret it either way, but I’m also directionally impaired 🙂 (yes, i’ve gotten lost in a straight hallway with only 2 ends and no turns…)
"Yes, it is…an uncanny likeness, really. She’s even labeled the proboscis, wings, and body segments. Abbot, isn’t it strange that she can still do that?"
"Now, your Grace. I realize that it can appear disconcerting to an untrained observer, but simple post-mortem movements are merely a side effect of advancing rigor mortis. No cause at all for alarm…"

"I mean that probability distributions could once again be represented by Gaussian bell curves. These things are IMPORTANT to gamblers!"

"Anything you still can’t deal with is therefore your own problem."
yeah that is not normal at all

I love reading this stuff. It’s great to know people are stimulated.
(difficult not to answer sometimes, but that’s a small hardship to pay)

I suspect that could be put at the end of a lot of conversations in this story.
Three Monks in an Abbey
(to say nothing of the corpse)
t!
Or like…. Three Abbs in a Monkey!
and the corpse never gnu what hit it…

I have now been practicing intoning this…
t!
"It happened in the drawing room, so we can only look at drawings of the event. We have rules here, you know."
Perhaps there is also the option of drawing Tarot cards?
t!
And as for drawing conclusions…
The corpse is drawing flies.

Ha! Well done, mucat! ???????
Were Tieflings in this world before, or are they new since The Change?
A Tiefling appeared in a single panel cameo as a slave in the Black Mountain back in the early strips of the "Coup d’Drow" chapter.
