3470 Is There An Echo Is There An Echo
Check it out! An actual update! I’m so friggin’ sorry everyone, I miss this comic SO much. I managed to find some time last week to draw out a few more strips, and hopefully this next episode of the show I’m working on will allow me to keep on it a bit better. Last few weeks were a real pain. Largely because of some construction work going on around the house that kept knocking out our power. So despite working late nights, I lost days!
Fortunately that seems to be done -at least, the part that effects our house. So fingers crossed, I’ll be back a little more.

Thank you for an update when you could get to it. This was fantastic and I am excited to see where it goes – whenever you have time. Your comic has always been an amazing gift. Please do not burn yourself out.
Like Papa Fargo said, thank you for the update, and please don’t worry. Real life does have to take priority over the comic.
Speaking of today’s comic, Cadugan is enjoying this very much. I think he may have found a new career after being a ranger. All he needs now is a trench coat. Oh, and one more thing…
😉
What T-Chall said about what Papa Fargo said 😉 Seriously, it’s all good here, if not there. More sorry for you that life’s been more complicated, especially with how much you miss being in this world. I hope things do improve for you, and gl with all the construction. Hugs!!
As for Cadugan, I offer that he enjoys not quite just showing off in itself, but demonstrating that he’s smarter than others, which to him proves that people are less intelligent than they think they are, and therefore fitting in his concept and irritation with them. Humans! Who do they think they are, anyway?l?
And a trenchcoat made specifically for him would make him happy, maybe shades of green, not in fashion at all, and wears well 🙂
Btw, i did not mean to type humans alone- somehow it didn’t make the change I typed that included all "civilized" beings. This is Cadugan, after all.
I like a term that the RPG game Traveller used: "sophonts".
A trench coat would be fitting also for a ranger, more than a cloak. It fits the period when such coats were introduced for riders, and though Cadugan is not often mounted a belted coat would snag less when patrolling the forests, offer pockets for equipment and such, and so on.
Rich, if you want to give Sadugan one, you have my blessing. It fits well with the swashbuckler scene
Cadugan : My wife loves your work, sir.
Lucas: I’m standing right here….
It’s a bit weird Cadugan gnu about that.
Some people just happen to have amazing abilities to extrapolate from the available data. Some use this ability as rangers and trackers, others as detectives, and a select few exploit this gift in games, especially high-stakes games like Poker or Gnu, where they are called Senses.
This story is really about how Cadugan became a Gnu Sense.
The big question is what the Abbott gnu and when he gnu it…
Thank you SO much, Rich.
For one uncontrollable, sublime minute, I was just *howling*.
t!
Shout-out to Eolhin for asking The Question in the last strip!!!
t!
No worries Rich. We are here for the long haul.
I owe myself a Coke, since I figured from tropes that something had to be missing. Never expected Cadugan to also anticipate this. Does he also read detective fiction?
Ooooh, Cadugan meets Cadfael.
Lol not sure how well this would go over, as Cadfael LIKES sophants (tyvm Fnordius for the term!)
Did you ever read her Felse series?
> I figured from tropes that something had to be missing.
Was there something in the story that tipped you off, or was it just "This will probably be the case" ?
t!
The sheer amount of emphasis put on the treasure paid out to the winner was a pretty good tip that there was something else afoot. To quote from a LeHane book, the safest person to murder is the one where there are many people with a more obvious motive than you have. And money is pretty obvious, as the O’Jays pointed out.
I have some ideas about the book, but since I got the one right I’m probably wrong about everything else.
"Cadugan is not often mounted"
While their preferences has been left to the reader’s imagination, one would hope that a happy marriage includes at least the occasional bed based joyride ;p
If he keeps up his smart mouthing, he may be mounted, stuffed, taxidermied, and put on display lol
A gnu strip with a gnu twist ? thanks !
Cadugan is getting the hang of this isn't he?
