No, though I can see how you might think that. I had posted under several previous strips speculating that perhaps Lucas was using those senses, but not saying what he detected out loud to keep his secret. Then when he asked to speak to Cadugan un-overheard, I got my hopes up that he was going to tell Cadugan what he had detected. Thus my reaction when that was very much not the case. There is NOTHING wrong with it the way it is, of course, I just tripped over my own expectations, wanting his werewolf senses to be mentioned. 😛 Not your fault.
I’ve gotta ask what it is you feel his "werewolf" senses should be detecting. He should have heightened smell (dust, old wine, a decaying corpse…) and hearing (breathing, heartbeats, maybe some moth wings?), and that’s about it.
I was referring to what he might have possibly picked up (by smell, probably) in Taurenil’s room, as whoever moved the wardrobe, and moved the mattress to make the extra cut would have had to handle it (though they could have used gloves, of course). It was back on those scenes that I mentioned hoping he was also detecting with his heightened senses. I didn’t expect him to pick up anything exciting in the cellar, just to use the chance of a ‘private’ conversation with Cadugan to convey what he might have detected earlier. Which he seems to be doing, except what he detected does not seem to have been with his werewolf senses (as far as we can tell so far).
Mostly, I just really want to know if he still has them, and see him use them to practical effect (if not negated by the anti-magic field… which may be a moot point (see next strip)). So yeah, I am just a victim of my own impatience to find that out.
Let me guess: the motive? It’s supposed to be the family history, but if Taurenil wasn’t on good terms with her family…
Are the Abbot and Carruthers choosing the wine for the evening meal whilst they’re down there?
They’re trying to remember which bottle opens the secret passage behind the racks…
I mean, surely they didn’t store Taurenil’s body in the wine rack?
It’s very subtly in the illustration (one might even say sneakily drawn) under a sheet on a table to the right.:-)
I love how the two of them are working together. 🙂
Aww, come on, where are your werewolf senses man? If the anti-magic field negates them, at least tell us that.
Did you leave this comment on the wrong strip?
t!

The expressions. The body language.
Remove Lucas and Cadugan’s speech bubbles, and you’d still get the gist of their conversation, if not the specifics.
Rich is such a master of this stuff–and it still impresses me. Every. Damn. Time.
Flatterer. ;D
Thanks.
