How how how did you do that???? That’s something i gotta learn!
And yes, it fits! 😛

Translation? I don’t have a mirror or patience to work it out, lol.
I’ll post the proper, turned-around version soon. 🙂

3505b?
t!
Please leave this version as well, if you can! 🙂
Insert it as the actual page 6053. It’ll be a fun surprise when it interrupts a storyline in 2035 or so!
What I did: Right click, copy picture, opened paint, inserted the strip there. Then I mirrored the screen an et voila, it’s readable.
In essence, the two are discussing the magic bubble and the Captain says that the abbey can’t have a mouse problem, as the magic bubble emits a sound mice find unpleasant. The abbott agrees, to which the captain points out there’s a mouse right behind him.
The plot thickens.
Thanks! That worked!
I could have don that, I could have used "Ctrl+Alt+Direction key" (You have to allow it first in settings), I could have waited for Rich to put the norma strip… But it was so much more satisfacing to use the screen of my phone to mirror it.
The more analogic the solution for a puzzle is, the more satisfacing.

Hahah! Nice!
Forgot what today was .. 😀
While Lucas and Cadugan are gossiping, Captain Carruthees is investigating. I hope Lucas likes the taste of shoe leather because he’s in the process of jamming his foot into his mouth.
I think you’re being unfair, here.
Lucas is indicating he’s discovered a hole in the arresting officer’s theory of the crime. You could argue he should be sharing that, but otherwise this is a very reasonable discussion, hardly mere gossip.
Meanhwile, Captain Carruthers has spotted something unexpected, which to Lucas (and Cadugan), who were not privy to the mouse mention, would not register as unusual at all.
t!
Had Lucas asked her not to listen, I wouldn’t have called it gossip. My view is that the Captain is a full on professional and takes this investigation seriously. She may not realize the flaw in her theory, but I’m guessing she can change her opinion as new evidence is uncovered (such as the lack of an anti-magic bubble.) Lucas and Cadugan started this story with the handicap of already declearing Muala innocent and "proving" that she is. If they can just set the whole urban/rural and class baggage aside, they would make a hell of an investigation team!
> Had Lucas asked her not to listen, I wouldn’t have called it gossip.
Aah, I see.
What follows is not a counterargument – your point is reasonable – but rather a "what was in the writer’s, and therefore Lucas’ head" viewpoint.
He’s been the one maintaining the delicate peace between the locals-what-do-the-work and The King. He doesn’t want to address a possible error on Carruthers’ part at this time, because that might derail the current line of inquiry, which is Cadugan’s "skull" thing.
He does respect Carruthers, demonstrated by his understanding of her when shushing Cadugan, and also his impersonation, which I view as empathy rather than mockery, so he does intend to share this if/when necessary – but now is not the time.

Mirror, mirror…..
I wanted to ask why did you do this, then saw Dee’s comment. Well played… (mousey! <3)
Ahahahaha
Rich, I’m guessing this is an April’s fool joke you’re playing on us, huh?
A-yup.
Here’s a convenient javascript snippet to flip around today’s comic, if anyone cares:
document.querySelector(‘#comic img’).style.transform = ‘scaleX(-1)’;
You can’t keep the Mouse out of the House.
April foolery asides, this means that either the anti-magic bubble is burst, or it doesn’t extend to the cellar.
Or perhaps… well it depends on how the bubble noise works. Is it just the "surface" of the bubble that makes this noise, or is it the entire volume of it? If it’s just the entire surface, it means that mice inside the bubble will want to remain in the middle, where the noise is weakest.
By the way, my own experience with using sound gizmos to repel rodents is that they don’t work at all. Had a rat problem in the garden back when my cats got too old to hunt. Ultrasound emitters were a joke to them. The only solution that worked was getting more cats.
Getting more cats is the solution to nearly all of life’s problems. Dogs work equally well.

[element.style {transform: scaleX(-1);}]
that one’s for the spoilsports
My eeeeeyeeeeessss… xD you’re just doing that to make everyone download this page, aren’t you? xD
On a more serious note, well, but that means the anti-magic bubble isn’t actually there, huh? And if Taurenil, who was really close to the Abbey, knew about that…
…or if Taurenil was the reason the anti-magic bubble isn’t there anymore.
Or just dig out a mirror, like I did, as trying to reverse the text mentally was giving me a headache.
Huh… What if Taurenil was the source of the anti-magic bubble?
I used GIMP to flip the image in 3d and then flip it 180°
I considered that, but it took less time and effort to pull out a mirror. 😛
You should check out Irfanview for simple little things like that. I don’t know about your computer but on mine GIMP takes a while to load.
This isn’t me. What happened to avatars?
That does seem unnecessarily complicated to me. Can’t Gimp just ‘flip image’ like Photoshop?
It absolutely can. Though GIMP takes so long to load on my computer (too many fonts, I guess) that I would never use it for a quick change like this. Paint or Irfanview are perfectly sufficient for the task.
Mice breed fast so possibly successive generations either got used to the sound or grew up with it and don’t know anything else.
That or possibly the stone walls and heavy wooden shelves dampen the noise.
Well, this explains nicely why they were paying attention to the wine rack. Amusing trick, ‘reflecting’ the previous scene. Does that mouse have something tied on its tail? Might it be someone’s pet?
Good observation. It does look like there’s something tied to the mouse’s tail.
Yup!
t!
I saw a mouse!
Where?
There on the stairs
There on the stairs
Right there
Yesterday upon the stairs
I saw a mouse that wasn’t there
It wasn’t there again today.
I wish, I wish it’d go away!
(Based on the poem Antigonish by Hughes Mearns)
Sorry, I’ll do that again
I saw a mouse!
Where?
There on the stairs!
Where on the stairs?
Right there!
A little mouse with clogs on?
Well I declare!
Today’s strip co-written by Leonardo Da Vinci.
Ha! Great April Fool’s Day joke, Rich. 😀
my only complaint with this is that the overly complicated font makes it very hard to read, usually just being backwards or upside down doesn’t do more than slow me down a bit but this is evil, my brain just can’t figure some of the letters.
Message from New Zealand. "Ahem. IT’S THE 2ND!"
Check again, dude. It’s the THIRD!!!
easy to sort – copy and past – edit – flip page horizontally
3500+ strips without ever making a mistake, but this time you scanned it backwards, my friend
Oh uh delete what I just said, I was just reverse-trolling, yeah that’s the ticket, I knew it was an April Fools joke all along…
😀
Yeah, I had the scanner’s plate glass on the wrong way around. Sorry about that.
HAH! Nice one.
If you were at Best Buy, they would try to convince you the problem was your scanner needs a more expensive cable.
(true story. They tried that on *Amanda*. Can you imagine?)
t!
Not just Best Buy. Heard many similar stories. In none of them were the cables what was at fault.
But I suppose it must happen sometimes if it’s always the seller’s first answer.
