It's with a sad heart that I pass on this news I read yesterday. I have been a fan of the series every since I saw the show the first time and I will always shed a tear while laughing when I see her watching the repeats.

That is sad- :(
She was a very funny lady, in all her interviews she talked about things she did to liven Mrs Slocumbe up, including dying her hair a different color every week, till she ended with 5 different colored hair rinses in her hair, aligned like a rainbow as a result - which made quite a scene when she'd stop by the school to pick up her kids <g>

I wish the best to her family, that they have many fond memories to hold dear.

BBC 2 in the U.K are running a "Are You Being Served Night" on New Year's Day, which includes the colourised pilot episode, which was un-transmitted at the time...
Apparently, there are only 3 surviving original cast members...
The Radio Times piece promoting said night interviewed Frank Thornton (Mr Peacock) who will turn 89 next month, & Trevor Bannister (Mr Lucas), who is now 73, along with Jeremy Lloyd, one of the 2 Creators/writers for said show...
